Graphic Era changed my life upside town. Coming from a small town of Rudrapur and getting admissions at Graphic Era Deemed University was more than I would have dreamt of. Admissions for BBA are done through an entrance test and only the best gets the admissions as total seats for the course is 120 and thousands of students apply for the entrance. Everything that I experienced here was for the better in due course. The infrastructure is certainly one of the best and the institute makes sure that students are not confined just too bookish knowledge but experience an overall learning. Sports, activities and all are done in abundance here and students taking part in events are given few extra marks for making college proud. Thus, one doesn’t have to worry a bit and enjoy the college life as it gives us enough freedom to do all that we like. Many workshops and events in every department are held to have an enriching study experience. Beyond classes and activities the college has many clubs like writing poetry, photography, dancing to make sure that you grow your inner passion.

A completely different ball game here as coming from a town where the classrooms are still like blackboard and chalks but here it was projectors and LCDs. The slides were moved and teacher would explain using the slides. BBA’s students should know more than basic computers as preparing presentation and excel sheets was all that I learned at Graphic Era. To make students are bored of studies, students are asked to engage themselves in some or the other activities. The university’s library was so huge and had many books on management studies that were of quite a held for completion of projects. Project works are must here and one has to enjoy them because classes and studies are not just about having bookish knowledge.

The faculty of the university is highly experienced and well educated at the same time. The faculty is also friendly and helpful as there’s staff quarters inside the campus and most of the faculty resided there. There was a studying area in the teacher quarters and if one has some doubts or need refining on some subject, the students are allowed to move in there and approach the respective faculty. This was hardly needed though as the faculty would clear most of the doubts in classes and would ask to step up, if one feels left out.

BBA doesn’t guarantee placements at Graphic Era or for that matter any other universities. We were sent on an industrial visit in Gujarat after the 4th semester. Our knowledge surprised the companies that we visited and some of them also joined hands with the university for placements. The companies sent their representatives who interviewed most of us and also offered jobs to some of us. I missed out but no surprise as 60% of the crowd from our department missed out. Given the current challenges, BBA is just the first step to have good placements after the masters.

There are many hostels as the strength of the students coming from different cities and states are quite high at Graphic Era University. All the 7 boys hostels in the campus have been named after legends like Maharana Pratap Hostel, APJ Abdul Kalam hostel, Netaji Subhash Chandra hostel, Sardar Patel Hostel, and others. For 1st year students there are 3 hostels to choose from and I stayed at the Maharana Pratap Hostel’s double Non-Ac rooms. The fees were reasonable as 60k for a hostel that has facilities such as Graphic Era University hostel was peanuts. Sardar Bhagat Singh Hostel is the most elite hostel as that’s the only hostel that provides single AC rooms. The timings of the hostel were little strict but the food given at the hostel was favorable to most and we hardly had to go out for meals.

Students from metro can only imagine a campus of this size because Graphic Era University's campus is that big. Many films and recently concluded web series Punch Beat have been shot at Graphic Era. It’s not just picturesque but one of the most maintained and beautiful campuses around. There are no competitors for Graphic Era at least in Dehradun. FRI is close but still Graphic Era wins it hands down. The gardens which are always full of students enjoying their leisure time are clean and any filth spread over there means suspension of students from entering the garden. Same goes for the grounds as well because sports are an integral part of the university and no messing at the sports complex of the campus.

The crowd is creams because progenies of super rich is what you will see at the campus. Parents coming in luxurious cars to meet their children or politicians with a whole lot of security is a common picture at the campus. Girls have one common intention and that is too become India’s top model and therefore if you want to be at a place where you like girls around then there’s no better place than this university. Celebrities are invited during fests and glamour is always around the campus.
