Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya B.Sc Review By Sujal Singh

I was preparing for NEET but unfortunately couldn't make it. I am from a biology background and am always interested in biology. I’m from Raipur, Chhattisgarh and Guru Ghasidas Visvidyalaya is the only Central University of Chhattisgarh. It is one of the few Central Universities which offers an undergraduate course in biotechnology (B.Sc Biotechnology Honours). I can pursue PhD right after my graduation which will save me one year so I thought Guru Ghasidas Central University will be the best option for me. GGV has implemented the new education program. The campus area is big and full greeny. If you want to pursue B.Sc Biotechnology it is best choice.

B.Sc Biotechnology Honours is a 4 year program. One has to give CUET (Central University Eligibility Test) and must have biology in 12th standard as it is required for biotechnology in GGV, the cutoff for general is approximately 175+/200. I recommend this course for those who have an interest in Biology and research.

There are a total 12+ faculty in our department. They are all highly experienced in their fields of research and a majority of them are post doctors from foreign countries. The faculty is really supportive in all ways, from organising any festival to professional seminar.

Yes, there is a placement cell in the campus. Unfortunately, in B.Sc Hons Biotechnology no placement happens through the university.

Yes, there are a total of 6-8 hostels for both girls and boys. All the hostels are having all the necessary facilities like a sport's room, conference room with TV, mess and garden etc.

It has the best infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. The campus area is of 655 acre. There are approximately 32 departments and 12 schools. We have one central library and a separate boy’s and girl’s gym. There are multiple canteens in different areas of our campus.

We have many student clubs such as; dance club - Abhinartan, university band - Tarang, film and shooting - Chalchitra, drama club - Archins, there are so many I cannot even recall all. There is even one for magazine writing. At least 10 fests are conducted every year. Campus is not crowded as it is really big. There are many activities as it as central government institute.
