Above average marks at the entrance are enough to get admissions here. However, the marks required may be average but what lies inside is way above average. Some of the best academic methods, good faculty, nice infrastructure, and campus life that allows one to chill in life. Noida has many colleges and still NIET College Greater Noida is the most demanding because it is one of those colleges that provides genuine placements and prepare us in a way that we are adept in engineering to the moon. I don’t like serious comparisons but still if one needs to compare NIET with other colleges of the region, than NIET is way ahead of them. A lot of things in terms of technology were first started by NIET and then were adopted by others. I have always been a keen follower of many industrial stalwarts and will thank NIET for getting them on the campus for guest lectures. Students were allowed to have one on one interaction during those lectures. Never seen this elsewhere but NIET hones student and make them confident to start their career with freedom.

Classrooms were not the only place where studies happened at NIET. We were taken on multiple industrial tours and given the practice materials of the industries. We were assigned mentors in the industry who helped us out on those assignments and the faculty too were quite helpful as they also helped us with that. More of practicals because IT stream is not about theory. It’s all about applying theory at the practicals and that’s what saved us from not just byhearting the massive books that we had.

Faculties were terrific as they would never let us slip from the syllabus. They would take surprise Q&A sessions and the ones who perform miserably in that had to undergo many extra sessions with them. So, revising all that learned in the class can be beneficial or be ready to spoil your Sunday’s as they would come on Sunday and take classes for as long as they want. Their commitment was unbelievable and this is what differentiate faculty of NIET from other colleges of the region.

Some were envy, some were happy, while just a few sad faces are what I saw after the placements completed. I envied those who scored less than me but yet bagged packages 30% more than me. Some students who were not so knowledgeable plus their academics too were not that great had to miss out on campus placements. Some people do engineering just for placements but this where they don’t understand that companies these days don’t just check the academic numbers but tale tests and ask questions that needs a perfect answer or else even you top numbers won’t guarantee you a job.

I was a day scholar but hostel were great. Hostels would celebrate their own events and because I had some friends who stayed at the hostel, I saw hostel from close quarters. The rooms were good and also the food that was available at the mess was so hygienic and tasty that one can easily survive on the food at the mess. Not saying it’s better than homemade food but most of the hostellers stayed in hostels from undergraduate years and they were more or less used to the hostel life.

The campus is not the biggest campus but in terms of facilities it’s better than plenty. The buildings were well maintained and one can see the college board from far off and therefore to travel to college was as easy as anything. Not just the college location but the facilities inside were glorious. Gym probably being one of them and then the sporting facilities. Recreational activity room in all buildings and that too furnished with best pool tables, table tennis tables, and couches to relax. The college canteens were average and one has to be mindful before ordering anything fancy. Parathas were good but rest other things were terrible. There are places nearby colleges and for good food in Noida, one is never far away. Crown Plaza and Ansal Plaza malls were nearby and one can have any form of entertainment there be it shopping, watching movies, or trying out food joints.

The club culture has been recently introduced in Noida as earlier we just used to listen about those in DU colleges. Yes, we may have copied it from there but are now way ahead of them. The clubs related to engineering streams were so cool and one would see new invention every single day. The club meetings were held at the canteens and management had to intervene to empty the canteens as we would fill it up with just our branch. Annual fest again was rated high by Page 3 followers as photos from events would come on Page 3 the next day.
