Everyone who sees a dream to become a great doctor in his life needs to do medical studies from a renowned medical College. After selecting in NEET-UG I choose SMS medical College for my medical studies due to following reasons - (1) SMS MC is one of the most popular and oldest medical College and it also lies in between Top NIRF rankings for medical Colleges in India. (2) SMS Medical College has about 11 attached hospitals which have very high OPD load. Even it surpassed AIIMS New Delhi in terms of patients in OPD and surgery. If OPD load is high then during MBBS course in clinical postings in hospital I am able to do practice well and I will encounter different type of cases in hospital by which I am able to apply the theoretical knowledge in practical means. (3) SMS MC has very qualified top senior professor and Dr. to teach students to increase our medical knowledge along with this SMS MC provide all necessary requirements for the physical, mental, psychological development of a student as it has a huge campus with all sport activities and library. So by these points I suggest others to go for SMS Medical College to become a good Dr. with a very good personality.

To get admission in any medical College for MBBS we have to crack NEET-UG examination. To get admission in SMS Medical College we have to score approximately 680+ for OBC and General category and 620+ for ST and SC category. Minimal score to get SMS Medical College may vary according to cutoff the year. Nearly under 1500 AIR in general category is necessary to get admission in SMS Medical College. MBBS course is of 4.5 year with 1year of internship. During each academic year semester exams are held in 3 months and at the last of the year University exams are held. To be eligible for University exams we have to ensure 75% attendance in theory and 80% attendance in practical’s otherwise we are not able to sit in University professional exams. Class size is 250 students. Fee to deposit at the time of admission is 104000 rupees as for ST and SC, OBC, EWS and all girls are exempted from tuition fee which is around 60000 rupees. In afterwards academic years fee is approximately 30020 rupees per year. Motive of the MBBS course is to attain medical graduation in the journey of medical life.

Our medical College (SMS) have very good teaching facility as the teachers are highly experienced and educated in medical field. All professors have 15 to 20 years+ experience in their field with MD, DM or MCH degree. Style of teaching of professors is very nice as they make subject easy by explaining the topics in different ways with performing practically in the labs of the concerned subject. HODs provide detailed schedule of the academic year with monthly teaching schedules. Mentorship programs are also held in the college, in this 5-6 students are allotted to one faculty member (professor). Students can share study related problems along with personal problems and the professors will help them out with a solution. Overall teachers and teaching system is very systematic and qualitative.

After doing MBBS of 4.5 years from SMS we have to do 1 year internship in SMS hospital. At the time of internship we get stipend of approximately 15000 to 20000 rupees. After internship we get degree of MBBS. Now we have opportunity to go for RUHS medical officer exam and after clearing this exam we can provide medical services at PHC level as a medical officer. Other option is to go for NEET-PG exam and after selecting in PG go for MD course. Other option is to join any private hospital. After MBBS degree we have many other options also to get job.

Our medical College has hostel facilities. Sk Menon, SBH and Kothari are major hostel for boys. Hostels for girls are also available. Football ground and badminton court are present in front of boys hostel. Hence girl’s hostel does not have separate play grounds. Hostel life is very cheerful. Hostels are well clean and controlled by wardens and college authority. Many games competitions are held among different batches of MBBS throughout the year as fests, freshers or farewell parties.

SMS medical College have beautiful campus in which college building, canteen, mess, a big library (with books of MBBS, MD, MCH according to curriculum of NMC are available), badminton court, Table tennis court, swimming pool, Cricket ground and football ground are present along with attached SMS hospital. College has New modern labs with all necessary instruments biochemistry lab, physiology lab, Dissection hall for anatomy, Microbiology lab, pathology lab, pharmacology mannequin and CAL labs are present along with MDRU lab. SMS has a new academic block. Outside the new academic block a beautiful temple of lord Hanuman ji is also present which makes the environment of SMS more positive.

Overall campus life of SMS is very good. All necessary requirements for a medical student are available here. We can take breakfast in hostel canteen before going to college for class, we can also use college canteen in between the classes for refreshment. We can play cricket and different games and can participate in fests at SMS. Major fest of SMS is 'SRIJAN' which is organised by student union of SMS. SMS is best to do MBBS.
