Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies BBA Review By Mahesh Karnani

SET general is the entrance that has to be cracked with top positions to get admissions at SCMS Pune. It is not just the top college of Symbi group but also the one that commands the highest marks in the entrance. There's a hell lot to boast about the group and the college. The facilities, faculty, infrastructure, and obviously the placements. I will draw a picture of all of them so that I can describe my life at Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies. I sought the stay there and ensured that we have the best time at the college there was a CCD outlet, gymnasium, and various gaming activities. SCMS was not just about academic learning but developing respect and sensitivity towards other communities as well. I have lived among my people in Kolkata, and the city doesn't have people from such wider communities. All the states were covered as out of the batch of 120 that was divided into 60 the next year, and we had students from almost all states and UTs in India. The college has tie-ups with various NGOs in Pune, and it was great to be a part of many such initiatives.

At SCMS, learning is not just in the classrooms but outside as well. One great thing was that the medium used by faculty and other staff members was only English. The course was structured to be intertwined with project work, assignments, field trips, business games, presentations, and role-plays. Students who enter the institute are already brilliant, and the college helps them to gain the next level of learning. The institute is so amazing that most of the graduate pass-out from the college has enrolled to other institutes of the group that offers PG program.

Some of the best in the business to make sure that they plan business games through which students have maximum fun in the classrooms. The class hardly had any absentees because of the fun element that was brought to the classrooms by the faculty members. The study material and the question bank provided by the faculty was enough to go through and clear the exams. It wasn't just the college faculty that taught us, but industry professionals were invited and used to test our knowledge with live experiments.

The companies that were at the helm of the placements include big names like Calvin Klein Zomato, Northern Trust, Wipro, and Amazon, to name a few. The packages offered were in the range of 4 to 5 lakhs, and also the placement was nearly 100%. No other BBA colleges in India have such an amazing ratio and amazing placements that SCMS provides. I haven't termed it the best, but it's the facts and figures about the college that make it one of the best. The college has an excellent network in the corporate sector. Thus, your future is secured even if you don't have plans for further studies.

The hostels are common for all the colleges of Viman Nagar. The hostel is not inside the campus but an easy commute from the campus to the hostel. The college has also arranged buses to pick and drop students to the hostel every hour. The capacity for the boy's hostel is quite less as there are just two active wings of the boy's hostel. One of the wings had rooms on double sharing, while the other had a triple and four sharing options. The rooms were fully furnished and had the facilities of indoor games and Wi-Fi. Luckily there were separate sections for veg and non-veg food as I am a pure vegetarian and can bear the sight of non-veg in front of me.

There are 5 colleges on the same campus of Symbiosis Viman Nagar. The library was big and had a nice collection of books on management. To make studies interesting, the classrooms had audio-visual aids. This enhanced our confidence as we had to prepare presentations live, and doing it in front of the class helped more student interaction. The computer lab had the latest machines, and one will find staff for any technical help if required. There are two canteens and a CCD outlet on the campus. One of the canteens was on the ground floor of the SCMS building. The basement of the canteen had a general store and a stationery shop. The open amphitheatre was enough to entertain half the college crowd. There was a common auditorium at the campus that was efficiently built and had all the gears backstage. Among all the facilities that we had at the college, the biggest highlight was the student's interaction lounge.

Students from various backgrounds made the campus happening on its own. Now coming to the fest, they were better than many PG colleges. Viman Nagar campus colleges performed together at the fests, and from fashion shows to celebrities performing, it was all there at the fest. The madness lasted three days, and likewise, the sports week was also held every year around January. Hands down, SCMS is more fun than any other colleges in India.
