Overall Rating
For those who are seeking to sail in the high seas along with gaining some experience for the job onboard, enrolling in B.Tech Marine engineering from IMU Kolkata fulfills yours requirements if you remain stiff in your ambition. This institute offers every possible aspect for you to visualize and grow provided you must take the initiative to train yourself physically mentally and what not.
 

Academics Rating
The course is for the duration of 4 years with the first year of academics as same as every other college. For enrolling in the course you need to complete your 12th standard from Science background and need to fill the form for an exam called IMU CET conducted by IMU to secure the seat in IMU Kolkata. You need to obtain a pretty good rank under 1000 to raise your chances for admission here. Your motive for admission here should be that you want to become a good Marine engineer but before that a responsible person for your own well being.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here are mostly those who have obtained Ph.D in their respective subjects or those who have passed out from this university have sailed and now have returned to the soil but like most colleges it is you and your friend's notes that will help you to pass the semester exams. Of course the experience and knowledge of pass outs that they share are invaluable which gives you an idea for the life ahead.
 

Placement Rating
We do have a placement cell which remains active throughout the academic year and also a placement officer appointed who invites the recruiter to the campus for screening and selection of Cadets for onboard training as TME. Various companies’ starts coming from the 4th semester for recruitment drive and continues even after 8th semester for selection. You need to pass every subject in every semester and maintain an aggregate of 75 which is the criteria for sitting in interviews.
 

Hostel Rating
Residential facilities are divided for every year into different hostels with basic amenities like water cooler, shared washrooms and a mess. Here Wifi is also available and a canteen is also being constructed for the students. The institute also has a Basketball and Volleyball Court and a ground for playing Football and Cricket.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The university has two academic buildings namely old academic building and new academic building which is sufficient for accommodating students without getting jam-packed. It also has a library with different ranges of books and a gym for the gym going cadets. Here medical care is also available for the cadets and also an auditorium where various events are organised.
 

Campus Rating
Campus Life is pretty chill nowadays. Annual fest called Tempest is organised every year and also some literary and occasional events to engage students. Of course when you step out of the campus it is a bit different from other colleges as the college is located in an industrial area but here's the catch you have different sports to engage yourself in your leisure time, here various kinds of sports are played i.e., Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Football, Badminton and also some indoor games to entertain yourself.

    One of the best colleges in Asia for Marine engineering studies. It has been more than 75 years since this college started. Since then this college has provided one of the best marine engineers in the world.     I joined this campus in 2021 to become a marine engineer. It was suggested by a lot of industry professionals.
