Honest Review of Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration

Overall Rating
Goenka is a brand name; this has been rumored in all over the Kolkata. But the truth is completely opposite it has nothing special about it and the placements are not good. College premises and campus is just too small. Like the campus can't even occupy 200 students at once. Though the classrooms are quite big and occupy the number of students allotted to that class. In cleanliness also I would rate this college 1/5 because the washrooms are dirty as well as the surroundings.
 

Academics Rating
Academically, everyone here is quite strong not because the teaching faculty is good but because of high cutoffs, self study, and professional courses pursued such as CA, CS, CMA, and CFA, I am saying so because most of the classes are cancelled last minute and then if you quit coming to classes, you get your name in the attendance defaulters’ list. For entry, you would need above 95% to even be considered on the list for general and SC, ST, and OBC can get admitted on 85%.
 

Faculty Rating
To be honest, the teaching faculty is not that bad, they do cover syllabus of the course enrolled. But there is no creative means of teaching. You might see smart boards and speakers all over the classroom but they don't use any of them. Every teacher has their own way of teaching.
 

Placement Rating
My sister just passed out a year ago from this college and they had only one company for hiring which selected none of the students. That's the condition of this college.
 

Hostel Rating
There is no hostel, but for your convenience you can find PGs and stays in Girish park, its 2 metro stations away from college and most of the students stay there only.
 

Infrastructure Rating
It has two buildings, 5 floors, 2 lifts; one for teachers and one for students, that's the only relief in college life. Infrastructure is quite good and there are good condition classrooms, they are cooler than the surroundings. It has no ACs. Campus is too small, the place is situated in very busy area Bowbazaar, but the classrooms are quite nice.
 

Campus Rating
There's no campus so there's no campus life, but there has been a cafeteria opening so you can have tea and coffee there, or just step out of the college and you get sandwich and kachori stalls. Honestly there's no crowd, college does have a fest named Quest which is okay but not that great, and fresher's party too, which is a plus point.

    My experience at Goenka College was good. It is among the best commerce college in Kolkata. Anyone interested in pursuing B.Com after 12th should definitely apply here. The fees structure is minimal and easily affordable.
