My Experience at BVM Vidyanagar

Overall Rating
The first major advantage of computer engineering in BVM is that it is GIA. Therefore, fee structure is very low compared to self financed colleges. Other benefit is that it is Gujarat's first engineering college, established in 1948, so the alumni network is very large. Unlike any other government colleges, faculty members are present on time in their lecture timings.
 

Academics Rating
Computer branch started around 1992 in BVM. You can get admission in computer engineering through ACPC (majorly) and some seats are filled through JEE mains. Being a GIA institute, the cutoff for computer branch is high in ACPC. Future is in the hand of digitalisation, so the computer branch is very promising for the future.
 

Faculty Rating
Unlike any other government colleges, BVM has a plus point, which is that the faculty members are very punctual in taking lectures. They barely miss lectures. Most of them have pursued M.Tech from IITs. All have deep knowledge of their particular course. Most of the faculty’s teaching style is unique and understandable.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, BVM has a Placement Cell called Training And Placement Cell. They are active regarding the placements in our college. They guide students to appear in interviews and also arrange in-campus placement drives.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we have hostel facilities; one hostel with mess facility and one without mess facility. Mess food is not satisfactory. Hostel with mess facility has options for AC and two partners in each room. While in the other hostel, each room has 3 partners and is non AC.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus of BVM is not so big. But renovation of all the blocks and classrooms has started and many blocks are completely renovated. One bad thing is that there is no AC in classrooms. So in summer, it is very hot. Although the classes are big but they have only 4 fans.
 

Campus Rating
Major annual function of BVM is Udaan which usually held in March of every year. Other fests like Knowhow take place in between December to February. Here, we have several clubs and societies like coding club, photography club, astronomy club, etc. and many societies like IEEE, WIE, etc. IEEE has won Gujarat level best student branch award.

    Overall experience of my university was good enough. The Campus is not that large but it does disappoint us in terms of placements, teaching, and the overall environment. What made me choose this college was only my passion. From the beginning I had interest in construction and I am pursuing my career. Teachers are best here as they are highly experienced....     Overall Rating
    As the college is 3 tier, I can say it was average. But it can be listed in top 5 government colleges in Gujarat. It had below average placements, above average academics and not so good extracurricular activities. But what I liked most about the college was its location. It's situated at the most iconic city of the Gujarat. Vallabh Vidyanagar is best to study. Apart from that the college has its independent curriculum and course structure.... Read Full Review

    I chose this college because my merit rank was high. Admission process of this college is very easy for me because of ACPC rank is very good for this course. You should check the ACPC website for the application form and the fee structure. The admission process is very lengthy so it can possibly take 1-2 weeks to finish the application....   • BVM is among the maiden engineering colleges of India
     

    Overall Rating
    BVM turned autonomous the year I joined and a good GUJCET score will make your way through this college. The college is 70+ years old and therefore safe to say that the oldest engineering college of Gujarat in BVM. The IITs too started post BVM as it started the year we got our independence and the foundation stone was laid by none other than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It has the maximum stream in engineering as there are as many as 11 streams and students not just from Gujarat but from pan India... Read Full Review
