IIEST is one of the oldest engineering colleges of India. It was established in 1856. It is one of best engineering colleges in West Bengal with overall good placement statistics and nice campus life. It is equivalent to the National Institute of Technology and one can get admission here through their JEE Mains rank.

In order to be eligible for admission in this college, one has to take JEE Mains examination and participate in JOSAA counselling. The courses provided include bachelor of technology in different branches like computer science and technology, information technology, electronics and telecommunication, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace and applied mechanics, civil engineering, etc., and bachelor of architecture. Other courses include M.Sc, M.Tech, and Ph.D in different subjects.

The faculties are very well qualified and well experienced in their respective fields. They are very well versed in their departments. They are very welcoming, amiable and helpful, and they help us with every kind of problem that might arise during pursuing the degree. However, sometimes there might be a language barrier for students from other states which can be easily overcome through a little bit of cooperation.

Yes, we have a dedicated Placement Cell in our institute. Not only does our institute provide decent placements but also enough facilities and opportunities for pursuing higher studies. Also, there is an Entrepreneurship Cell to help students come up with their own business and start-up ideas.

Yes, we have residential facilities within campus but students that live close by do not get the hostels but they can easily get PGs outside the campus.

The infrastructure of our institute is old as our institute is one of the oldest engineering institutes of India. But renovations are done and we are provided with all necessary facilities. The main building is where most of the departments are located and classes are held in respective departments third semester onwards. The first year students attend classes in the Science and Technology building and lecture hall complexes, where all the offices are also located. There's a gym and a swimming pool inside the campus. The Ramanujan Central library is a huge library with all necessary books available in it. The clock tower is one of the oldest structures within the campus and it is a quite significant part of our campus. There are canteens, cafeterias, and stationery shops within the campus as well.

The campus life is quite vibrant especially during even semesters as most of the fests and events take place during the even semesters. There are a lot of clubs for students to pursue their favorite extracurricular activities. Some of the most active ones include reflexobeta (the dance club), euphony (the music club), Les thespians (the dramatic society), DebSoc (debating society), ICCHE, SCAGE, etc. There are a lot of sports clubs as well as departmental societies.
