IIT KGP Review

Overall Rating
I gave JEE Mains and JEE Advanced and the best institute with a branch I was interested in and I could get at my JEE rank was IIT KGP. I had heard about a very good campus culture here. My experience till now has been very good, from campus life to career.
 

Academics Rating
Electrical Engineering course at IIT KGP (or anywhere) is academically very demanding unlike other branches. You have a lot of labs and classes and the curriculum is hard. However, if one can survive this along with carrying on the jobs and PoR they have interest in, there is no looking back on what that person can do.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties are very knowledgeable and have a very good research background in their respective research areas and beyond. However, most of the faculties do no put a lot of effort into making the teaching interesting and easy. So, most of the students do not attend such classes and instead study before exams themselves.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we have Career Development Centre at IITKGP which conducts placement and internship drives for all students. The placement ration is well above 80%.
 

Hostel Rating
Each student is allotted a hall upon admission and one has to live there only for the duration of their course unless some special case is made. Infrastructure is quite good and many recreational activities are available, from sports to cultural to tech.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure in the campus is world class with classes taking place in Nalanda Complex, Vikramshila, and main building. Labs are in CIC, Department Building, and JC Bose Lab among others. There are several auditoriums, playing grounds, swimming pool, gymnasiums, etc. We have Technology Students’ Gymkhana dedicated to student activities where any student can come and conduct their activities.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is excellent with all the amenities mentioned above. The people are diverse and talented. There are several fests conducted round the year. There are several competitions in sports and games, social and cultural, and technology like Open IIT, general championship, intra-hall championships, summer camps, etc. There are student clubs for almost everything on campus.

    IIT Kharagpur is one of the most renowned academic institutes in India. It has NIRF ranking of 5th in engineering category. It is one among the oldest IITs in India which makes it strong alumni network. The lush greenery campus with fresh air, away from city makes students life excellent. I am from IIT Kharagpur and unlike many other IITs, there is no LAN Ban or restriction on data usage and also there is no hostel curfew which is an added bonus.... Read Full Review

  • Prestigious institute for the right exposure

    Indian institute of technology Kharagpur is one of the oldest and best Engineering institutes in India. As we can see through the NIRF ranking, it is one of the prestigious institutes and we can get admission in it by cracking Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). I can choose IIT Kharagpur over other institutes because of better placements and internships opportunities and for exposure. We get a lot of exposure here in different areas and enhance our skills.     Among engineering colleges in India, as everyone knows IITs are the most popular and ensuring institutes and even among them IIT Kharagpur is the oldest. The faculty and infrastructure here is totally worth the competition and hard work which one goes through during its preparation. The life here is mesmerizing and again worth the struggle.
