My experience at NIT Jamshedpur till now is good. The campus of NIT JSR is good. There is going to be a new hostel in construction as M.Tech and Ph.D students do not have hostels till now. But, after 1 year, it will be completed, and it will be helpful. I have chosen NIT Jamshedpur because of my JEE mains score (98.2%ile) I got ECE here. The main reason of choosing NIT Jamshedpur is its location; it is around 350 km from my hometown Daltonganj. It is also located in my home state. Due to the recommendation of my brothers, I took ECE.

Courses offered here include B.Tech in 8 branches computer science, electronics and communication, electrical engineering, engineering and computational mechanics, production and industrial engineering, civil engineering, metallurgy, and mechanical. Counseling is done through JOSSA/CSAB. The eligibility is minimum 75% in 12th board with PCM + JEE mains rank. Motive for enrolling is that the placement of NIT JSR is among the top 10 NITs. So, according to placement point of view, it is good. Core placement is better than many IITs and NITs.

Most of the faculties have done their masters and Ph.D from India's best institutes like IITs, NITs, etc. Some of the faculties you will get are good and some of them are very strict. Most of them have experience of around 15 years in teaching their subject. Our ECE and maths professors are recognized as among top 2% scientists by Stanford University. Professors are really helpful. If you are interested in research, you can approach the professors. The methods of teaching are like other NITs or IITs.

Yes, Training and Placement Cell is there in NIT JSR. They really help in approaching the companies. Students can search and can know more information there from their LinkedIn account. T&P cell helps students for preparation of interview and also for placement season .As we already know, it is a tough time for technical industry. But still, even in the recession period, the placement of NIT JSR is good and the core placement is better than software this year. This all happens by the support of T& P cell. So, they are really helpful for the students.

Yes, hostel facilities are available for girls and boys both. For B.Tech course, first year hostel is little bit older. But, second, third, and fourth year hostels are newer and recently made in the last 4 years. In my first year hostel, there is a common room where students can play games like table tennis, chess, carrom board, etc. There is a small playground also. Water cooler is available here in 1st year hostel. In my hostel, mess food is better. Vegetarian and non vegetarian are both available.

Recently, new campus of NIT JSR is made, where all the academic study is going on. There is a computer lab and library in separate buildings. Old academic building is also here where labs of all subjects are present. A new academic building is around 0.5 km from 1st year hostel. Nearby girls’ hostel, basic exercise machines are established. There is no gym in the campus. One new hostel is under construction. The infrastructure of NIT JSR is average.

Campus life is not so good in NIT JSR. There are around 3500 students studying here. There is no auditorium and gym in the campus. There are many clubs in college like technical clubs (team innoreva, Phoenix), cultural clubs (team rooh for singing, team beat breakers for dancing, and many more) and different sports are also played here like badminton, cricket, tennis, hockey, football, etc. Two major fests of NIT JSR are Urja (sports fest) generally organised in November-December and Culfest (cultural fest) generally organised in April. Ojass is the technical fest of NIT JSR. The involvement of students in all these fests is good. Majorly, first year students will be there in Culfest.
