Overview of Sitamarhi Institute of Technology, Sitamarhi

Overall Rating
My overall experience of almost 6 months here is that Bihar government is providing all necessary equipments to make this college a better place for students. I chose this college because of financial issues as well as for pursuing engineering. I had appeared for JEE Mains hence; I was eligible for getting selected in this university called Bihar Engineering University.
 

Academics Rating
I have chosen a course called CSE with specialization in artificial intelligence and machine learning. This course is totally new in this university. It was initiated in 2022. For this course, a student must have appeared in JEE Mains and scored minimum 80%ile for general category and the other way is BCECE exam.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty number is not sufficient here in this college. For example, physics faculty is not there in this college. Few students face problems because of this. Other faculties are good; they just need motivation to teach students properly, as they are highly skilled professors. They are BPSC qualified faculty hence, they are talented. They teach quite okay but they rush in teaching and completing the syllabus in the last phase of syllabus completion.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a Placement Cell. It is helpful for students but it is limited to a fixed or lesser amount of stipend. If a student’s really talented, then he or she has to apply for off campus placements as here the maximum package can go up to 4 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, there is hostel facility for students but the facility is not quite okay. In summer season, electricity and water scarcity is a serious problem. A student can never concentrate on studies in hostel in this hot weather because of problems with water, electricity, etc. One other major problem is the internet speed. Internet is too slow here, which is an issue we students are facing from the past six months. They are saying that Wi-Fi will be installed but in a government college, we can’t expect much.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Academic building infrastructure is too good. All buildings and structures are high class and perfect. Hostel infrastructure is also very nice. Each class is properly structured. Lift facility is also there in the academic building and new hostel also, but all are not in working condition. Solar panels are also under the process of getting installed.
 

Campus Rating
There is no club in this college but indoor games are conducted almost every week. Fests are also limited in a year. All of them are funded by students only and the overall campus life is okay. But obviously, it can be improved for the betterment of students in various fields. Some more playgrounds can be constructed and students need to take the initiative of forming clubs and engaging in various activities.

    Engineering has been very fascinating for me since the beginning and my keen interest in new technology and creating new things has helped me choose this profession and this college. It offers engineering degree at a very low fee structure, that is, around 30000rs for four years.
