Bangalore has nearly 100 Universities and half of them are crap. CMR University is a big name but honestly doesn’t even deliver half of what is expected. I entered the University with big goals and dreams. I was all excited to learn and shine in my career. CMRU for sure had some other plans in store as it stripped us from all that was expected. The University has 11 schools but I know students from most of the schools of the University and each one of us has the same thoughts. Whenever they wanted they changed the syllabus in the middle and left us confusing. They took the hell out of me by giving false hopes. The faculty are even better as they also have their duty assigned and beyond that, they have no role with students. While I was at CMR University I slacked and started hating everything. This is how depressed I felt while I was at the University. I won’t call it a fake but definitely not worth the big bucks that they charge.

If a degree is the only thing that you need then CMR University is God for you. You can carry as many backs till the final year starts. There is just one rule that by the end of all semesters all your back should be cleared otherwise it may take an additional couple of years to get you the degree. It was all stupidity and from my point of view, the education at CMR University is of no use. They have updated the syllabus and all but no regular classes, no good professors. In such an environment studies are just not possible. The students at the University know it soon that they have committed a mistake and even the foreign students are not treated the way they should be.

Just one or max 2 were exceptional because the rest all will come and take lectures. You can’t ask doubts and if by chance you ask, you will be scolded. There’s no one above them where students can complain about such matters. Such poor professors and hardly care for the students. They do have top degrees from top Universities but if that is enough to qualify for teachers then God saves students. University’s fate is decided by the kind of faculty that it has. I hope the University learns the same and does the needful or else the University will lose all the goodwill that it has created over the years.

Hardly any placements not just for the engineering school but for almost all the schools. There was a mass placement campaign but one has to search for the students who got placements. 4 out of 10 students of engineering school may have got the placements. For other schools, it was probably 2 out of 10. After paying so high fees and fighting for meager placements is what the University will leave you at. Bangalore is an industrial hub and it’s not just an IT hub but Bangalore is also the silicon valley of India. CMR University placements still are so poor and University like always don’t care a bit.

CMR University has 4 boys' and 3 girls’ hostels within the campus. CMR University hostel provides single to 4 sharing occupancy room options. Students quarter of boys and girls are nearby and are under observation 24x7. The hostel building area is known as the student quarter area. The area is beautiful and the hostel building too is damn beautiful. The rooms are neat and are cleaned every alternate day. The hostel gates close at 10 pm and open at 6 am. If you wish to go out during those hours, prior permissions are required. The hostel mess is clean and the food provided has quite a variety. North Indian students are in numbers and so dal, rice, and roti are served daily. The University hostel is exceptional and the students of various cultures stay together with love and warmth.

The CMR University campus is lately built and the architecture is worth watching. There’s a lake next to the University and the university is spread across 60 acres of land. All the 11 schools that fall under the University have their own building. The University campus has a grocery shop, a stationery shop, and a departmental store. The University is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Bangalore. The University has 3 canteens in all and all and one can get all the food items that they wish at the canteens. There are 3 sports grounds and every institute of the University has a recreation room in their department building. The campus as a whole is one of the best in Bangalore and has all the modern facilities.

Life at the university was a misery. With each passing day, the desperation levels went high. We all knew that we will be wasting four most precious years of our lives but had no choice but to pass the time. It was perhaps the worst time pass that I have ever done in my life. Education is not a time pass thing and I will for sure never recommend CMRU to anyone in this lifetime.
