Review of Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, Pune

Overall Rating
The college has an extremely old campus, a 7-story building, out of which 2 floors are for completely different institutes. The college provides 4 courses: BBA (IT), BCA, M.Sc and MBA (IT). The placements are just around bare minimum and people tend to join this college because of the Symbiosis name.
 

Academics Rating
To enroll in this course, you need minimum 60 percent in both 10th and 12th from any recognised board. As a general candidate, you need to have a decent percentile in the SET exam that's conducted twice a year, out of which the best one is considered. After that, there's the PIWAT process. There is a general interview with a WAT on general topics.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is more or less average; some are quite good, while others are arrogant and not up to par. As far as the higher authorities go, they do listen and take action on teachers if the class doesn't necessarily believe that their teaching is good. The majority of the teachers are from Pune University.
 

Placement Rating
The placements are quite miserable, and to make up for that, the institute tries to get decent internships where students can get PPO's and will not have to rely on the placement team.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostel is only for international students, which is extremely average; they have the absolute bare minimum amenities and could definitely be better. Close to the campus, there are multiple PGs with a way better quality of life.
 

Infrastructure Rating
A 7-story building, for which only 5 floors are for undergraduates and the rest are for other institutes. With the old-style classrooms and lack of air conditioning in most of them, it may be believed that the Symbiosis director forgot about the institute altogether.
 

Campus Rating
There's no campus life since there is no campus in the first place, it's more of a city life since the college is right in the heart of Pune, and students try to make the most of it. Clubs have mostly been dissolved, and fests rarely take place at our college, to make up for it, everyone goes to other Symbiosis institutes' fests.

    Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research is affiliated to SIU. I wanted to pursue BCA course in my undergraduate. I have to know about SICSR Pune, which is ranked 2nd in India.   • My Experience About the Campus Life at SICSR

    I just completed my first semester, and to be honest so far my experience has been pretty decent. I had chosen SICSR as it ranked among the top Indian Universities for BCA. I’d recommend Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research over any other private institute for BCA as the faculty is pretty good and the university is well reputed in India. Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research is well recognized internationally as well and they rank 641 in the QS world rankings.... Read Full Review

    It's a good college for students who want to pursue a career in the IT field. I've finished my 1st semester now and till date it was fun and I've learnt a lot of new stuff that has helped me a lot. The college has a standalone building which doesn't have a big campus- it has a canteen though. Overall the college is good and I would recommend it to everyone.... Read Full Review

    My experience in this college has been somewhat bitter as the exposure and campus life is very restricted. The campus is very small and the people are not of my type. The blend of IT and management made me join this course as that is the way forward in today's day and age.... Read Full Review

    The college is good for BCA, but for BBA it’s not that great. If you’re planning to join this college thinking about infrastructure and a movie like college life, then this would be the worst place. Being a Symbiosis college, they need better infrastructure.
