Review of St. Thomas' College of Engineering and Technology, Kolkata

Overall Rating
This college is located in the heart of Kolkata. The college is connected with all modes of transportation. It is located in Kidderpore. I chose this college for its location and placements overview. This college has a good track record for the software branches such as CSE, IT, and AI& ML. So, one should go for software branches of Engineering.
 

Academics Rating
As I have done diploma in Electronics, I joined this college in 2nd year after clearing JELET exam. I chose this course as I wanted to learn Electrical Engineering and I was interested in it. For lateral entry in this college, a student must have less than 5k rank in JELET exam. And for lateral entry, this college has branches such as CSE, IT, AI&ML, ECE, and EE.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties in this college are quite professional and experienced. They focus more on the assessments and assignments. They are helpful in college related work and they focus on practicals also. They prefer to teach using slides on the smart board. Faculties also have experience in the industries.
 

Placement Rating
The placements in this college are good for the software branches such as CSE, IT, and AI&ML. As mostly IT companies are the major recruiters in this college. For the core branches, the overall placements are not as good, as very few core companies visit for placements.
 

Hostel Rating
This college does not provide any hostel facility.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of this college is good, as the college has a big library (non AC), a big seminar hall (with AC), and a club house for indoor sports such as table tennis, carrom, etc. There is also a badminton court and a big playground for the cricket and football. There is small garden too in this college. There is a canteen facility for food.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life in this college is decent as there are relatively fewer programmes organised every year. Only the fresher's and farewell programmes are organized from respective departments every year. There is an annual sports day in between every department. Each year, every department organises its own picnic for the students.

    St. Thomas College Of Engineering And Technology is a very prestigious and a very well reputed college. The atmosphere here is very good as well as the faculty. The facilities here are limited but enough good for students. This institution may be strict but it’s very well known for their successful alumni and the placements.     I took admission in this college in 2022, through WBJEE entrance exam. I took admission here in computer science and engineering branch. In my year closing cut-off of this CSE branch was closed at nearly 17000-18000 rank. I heard this college was quite good and also the transportation options to reach this college are also good for me.... Read Full Review

    The college campus is good and it provides us a very good environment to study. I chose this college to make my dream of becoming an engineer come true. The director of this college is a good person. He is helping in all possible ways he can. But for becoming an engineer, you should have that ambition.     Overall Rating
    College faculty is decent; they are friendly and helpful. The classroom and laboratory of electrical department are decent compared to other departments especially CSE, IT, and AIML. The library has a large quantity of books but the faculty is not nice there. I haven't gone there after my 3rd semester as they take fine for keeping the book past the due date. College takes fine for low attendance as well so be attentive if you are going to enroll in this college.... Read Full Review

    I always wanted to be a good engineer. That's why I choose St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology to fulfill my dream at some extent. This college is in tier 3rd stage according to AICTE rules.
