All in all, the university is great for studying and preparing for GATE and many other competitive exams. Students are encouraged by the faculty for the same too. The venue might be a little discouraging in terms of job opportunities, because it's in Katra but still, the university is pretty decent with its placements. Still personally, I like the venue and the environment here, it's healthy. So all in all, it's a great and peaceful university to attend, with decent future opportunities.

The academics of the college are pretty much fine. I study B.Tech here so accordingly my answers would be related to that. The curriculum is rigorous from the first semester itself and the subjects get pretty ridiculous. An example would be "Biology for Engineers" which is taught to students in the second semester from CSE. The ECE curriculum from what I have heard is pretty heavy too. Although the toughness of the subjects varies among the students.

The faculty teaches just fine from what I have experienced. The concepts are taught well and the teachers are friendly too. Although you do get some not so good teachers throughout the semester too. So it's mostly up to you to study from other platforms like YouTube, Coursera, etc. for your understanding. It's also noteworthy that some teachers would be quite lenient too if you maintain a good interaction with them. That's something you have to do in general with every teacher.

The placements at my university are fine. It really depends on a lot of other factors too. There's a Placement Cell in the university and the highest packages that go are around 15-20 LPA. But still, the real fruit comes from the off campus placements, it's still a struggle to compete but in a batch of 100, on campus placements become a lot easier. Remote internships are also possible if you have the capabilities.

Hostels are allotted based on your year, first year students get the Basohli hostel. It's a great looking hostel with plenty of facilities. Although the hostel often also gets invaded by dogs, cats and monkeys. There are 4 badminton courts, a coffee shop, and a table tennis room in the hostel too which is fantastic.

The infrastructure's pretty low storied considering the fact it's in a mountainous area (Katra) but it's beautiful. The academic blocks are on the opposite side of the hostel and they are interconnected too. The labs and lecture halls are well maintained (especially the ECE ones) and overall the buildings look fine. There's a grocery in the hostel and other facilities too, just in case. And a MAC (Medical Aid Centre) just beside the grocery store. More buildings are being constructed around the area which will put the huge campus to good use.

The campus life really depends upon how you utilise it. There are seasonal fests happening throughout the year. There are multiple clubs; most of them being technical and then you have sports events happening around too. The campus is as lively as it could get. But yes, the participation's still not as much as you think. That's something that could dull the impact of such events and make them monotonous but still it's a great university if you want to enjoy your campus life. There's plenty to explore around, in and out of campus and it is pretty fun too. The university's still pretty much academically focused so don't expect much too, though.
