National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Noman Uddin

I joined NIT Delhi in the year 2023. Since then, I have had a very positive experience in this college. I applied for this college after JEE Mains and opted for CSE as I was very interested in that particularly branch because it was in high demand. In JOSAA counselling, this was my top most choice mostly because of its locality which in the capital city of India, which is very preferable for me. The college is relatively new compared to other NITs built in 2010 but still has developed a lot over the past few year and seeing the rate of development, I can assure that it holds a lot of potential for growth. The classrooms are built newly thus, are up to date. New buildings are equipped with the latest facilities.

The course I applied for was CSE. The entry requirements are set by JOSAA. One has to appear for JEE Mains and score above the cut off percentile which changes every year and can vary upon reservation and home state, other state quotas, etc. The National Institutes of Technology are the engineering giants of India. They are very renowned and up hold a lot of value to their name thus, I applied for NIT. The course CSE is computer software engineering which includes everything from basic software, web development, data structures, programming languages, data mining, cloud computing, etc. NIT Delhi follows the new education policy thus, has a very developed way of teaching and is focused on the field from the first semester itself.

The best thing about this college that I admire is the faculties. They are fairly young but contain a lot of experience, at least 8-10 years. They have completed their Ph.Ds from respected institutes and have experience with previous big NITs as well. The class size is around 60 thus, the class remains very interactive and being young, these professors are very friendly. They act as mentors for students and are very knowledgeable as well.

The placements in NIT Delhi are above average compared to engineering colleges, being a college of national importance. The average placement is around 18 LPA and the highest package is around 84 LPA. There is a Training and Placement Cell at our college; in fact I am a part of that cell. It brings major companies like Swiggy, Intel, Tata Power, Zycus, Delhivery, etc. The cell also trains students for data base management and placement sales.

The hostel facilities are above average too. There are rooms are shared by 2-4 partners and the size is more than adjustable. There are personal washrooms provided in every room; which is a major advantage. Depending on their choice, students can apply for both AC and non-AC rooms as well. The hostel rooms are cleaned and maintained regularly according to me. Then there are washing machines, geysers, water coolers, and other necessities as well. The students are very friendly and the hostel life is very active; that is one of the best things about this college. One can build great friendships and companionships here.

The college infrastructure mainly includes three main buildings which include the admin block, which is the main headquarter of our college; it contains offices of staff members and the Dean’s, and office of the director as well. It contains VCR labs and fully equipped latest labs for the IT sector. Then there is the mechanical block which includes conference rooms, 3D printing room, mechanical labs, and civil labs as well. Then there is the mini campus which is the hostel for students as well as contains lecture halls, theatres, gyms, and other facilities such as research labs. There are cafeterias and canteens as well.

The campus life at NIT Delhi is very engaging, and I have made a lot of friends and valuable allies. There are great numbers of talented students who are very skilled. There are fests held every year like cultural fests on festive occasions like Holi, Navratri, Diwali, etc., and then there are tech fests like code on, hackathons, robo race, etc. Then there are arts events as well which are very creative and a must attend. The annual fest is the best part which has a lot of crowd, celebrities are called to perform; it is very fun and energetic. The fest might be a bit dull compared to other colleges but is surely a thing to enjoy.
