Review of Government Medical College, Kottayam

Overall Rating
It was a very great experience studying in keralas top third government medical college. Here, I got the most doctor-patient experiences which were exciting and like a roller coaster ride. I would recommend students trying for MBBS to go to Kottayam Medical College and enjoy their college life with full freedom.
 

Academics Rating
You will have 4 university exams in total and each year there will be three sessional exams, and a practical exam which will be conducted by the respective departments. This will be the most stressful period of your college life where everyone will be running to meet the goal. Minimum 40 % must be secured in sessional exams.
 

Faculty Rating
The teachers are well trained and experienced. First year faculties are so dedicated that they even take special classes at night through online media like Zoom. Teachers are ready to explain everything they know many times. Post graduates at the respective departments also take the responsibility of teaching.
 

Placement Rating
Sorry, I am not sure about it.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel is of old infrastructure. Hostel doesn't have a curfew.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus was earlier well surrounded by trees but later on they were cut down for the purpose of building a new surgery and superspeciality block. Academic blocks are C1 and C2 which are 4 storied buildings. Anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry are in one building. Pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology in another. The campus also has a central library.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is awesome. The union elected by the students conducts programs to give life to the college, which are generally conducted in the college auditorium. College auditorium is located in the old campus. Old campus is the heart of the college. The college also has a beautiful butterfly park which is taken care of by the students.

    I chose this particular institute because here patients from most of the central parts of Kerala are admitted, through which we get exposure to a wide variety of medical cases.
