I had an amazing experience at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. I am a student of 2019- 2023 electrical batch. Starting from the first year of college, I have so good memories. The infrastructure of the college is so amazing and I have to say that the campus has each and everything a student could dream of at his/her college. My overall experience at Thapar University was just beautiful.

During my year the admission was on the basis of JEE Mains Score, like I took admission on the basis of JEE. But I guess at that time around 15 or 20% seats were giving on the basis of class 12th percentage. Top 5 candidates from any board were eligible to get direct admission in the respective branches they were interested for. But none the modes of admission have been changed, I guess 50% seats are for class 12th basis and rest 50% on the basis of JEE Mains.

The faculty at Thapar was top notch professors who had their degrees from premier institutes like IITs. Most of the faculty who were teaching my batch were either pursuing Ph.D or had already completed their Ph.D. The faculty assigned for classes were working under the guidance of senior professors. They were pursuing M.Tech at that time so they were working as Teaching Assistant.

Yes, Thapar Institute has a well managed Placement Cell. I feel it is because of Placement Cell that the college has reached so high in terms of placements. Like I was of electrical branch so we had a whatsapp group where the Placement Cell would choose 3 SPRs (Student Placement Representatives) from each branch. Then these SPRs would coordinate on the behalf of our branch with the high authorities of the Placement Cell. There were regular meeting organised with SPRs. When our placement semester started, the SPRs made sure that each and every detail was shared in the WhatsApp group as well. Overall I can say the Placement Cell of Thapar is well organised and that is the result of such great placements. If you are from CSE background I can assure you that if you'll give even your 50% you'll land with a top notch job.

Yes, the institute has residential facilities. I must say the hostels of Thapar are the best for sure. There are iconic hostels for both boys and girls separately. In my year, the iconic hostels were given on the basis of CGPA. They were absolutely the best. The mess food is amazing, so hygienic. Hostel life at Thapar is like a home away from a home. Every hostel had a well equipped gym room, TV room, and a mess. Hostels are literally the best at Thapar.

The campus has an absolutely beautiful infrastructure. From library to swimming pool everything is top class. The institute has an amazing library I guess. 6 storey building which is so amazing having group discussion rooms, washrooms, air conditioning facility, etc. There are multiple grounds in the institute. The institute had complex which had salon, multiple eateries, and what not. In short, everything is there which a student can dream of in his/her college.

Overall campus life is wow. I mean it is legit wow. From top notch placements to top notch infrastructure and then to top notch fests, everything is just wow. The biggest fest of Thapar is Saturnalia and I must say it feels like you are in the concert of Arijit Singh. Not only saturnalia, institute organises multiple fests including virsa, mudra, etc. The institute has various societies for engagement. These societies organises multiple events on daily basis. Overall everything is so much fun.
