Maharishi Markandeshwar University B.Sc Review By Palak Thakur

It has been three years now since I am studying in Maharishi Markandeshwar University Mullana so I thought of sharing my personal experience with you all. My journey in MMDU started with an orientation program first. I am from a very small town and it was first time I saw such well educated teachers and such big university with beautiful infrastructure. I was quite impressed by the orientation program as it explained briefly about the university. It also gave us chance to make new friends for new journey which I surely did. Then the actual journey started a day after orientation program with lots of lectures. I hardly get any free lecture to chill with friends except for a lunch break. MMU Mullana focused mainly on the study and making a bright future.

The academic branch of our university is run by some of the talented and educated faculty. Since I am from a chemistry background, I have to attend 2-3 practical sessions a day. Also, have to go through the monthly presentations assigned by our subject teachers. During a semester we have to attend two sectional exams. These are more like a test with each subject of 30 marks. At first, I took these tests very lightly but later on came to know that our assessment is based on these tests. Along with these two main tests many teachers like to conduct weekly test also. The attendance also plays an important role in our final assessment. Attendance is being taken with face machine and student below 70% attendance don’t get chance to give final paper. They are considered as detained students and have to wait for next year to give the exams. I have three years program therefore, there are six semester for me.

Since the university is situated in rural area, some of the teachers don’t have much knowledge about their subjects. But there are also many teachers who have teaching experience in abroad also. Some teachers are below the average line and some are above it. So it kind of balances the faculty rating. But in case if we don’t like any of teachers then we can replace him/her by talking to our HOD personally.

I must say placement rating of MMDU is tremendous. Almost 70% of interested final year’s students get placed every year. There is placement from technical jobs to calling department. Even students from law also get placed in many famous firms. The best department for placements is B.Tech CSE. Companies like Infosys and Wipro comes for CSE students with a great annual package. So far the highest annual package in history is 22lakh per annum. Even many of my batch mates also get placed in call centers with good annual package. Anyone with good knowledge about their subject and good communication skills can easily get placed in this university. In corona time companies are placing the students via online mode.

MMU Mullana Hostel facility is provided for each and every student. The rooms are big enough for two members along with an attached washroom. There are luxury rooms also available with AC and separate kitchen with slightly higher fees. The drinking water facility is also very good. During summers there is arrangement of chilled water as well as normal water. There are separate hostels for foreigners also. Warden is appointed to each hostel. Students are being feed 4 meals a day. People are there to clean our rooms and washrooms thrice a week. Everything about hostels is good except food. I mean the food is nutritive enough but the taste is ridiculous. This is because there is common mess for almost 7-8 hostels. I too have to go to common mess and I don’t like the taste of food at all.

The infrastructure of MMDU is beautiful enough to attract the tons of foreign students every year. The classrooms are very beautiful with well maintained desks, green boards and with smart classes also. There are 6-7 large playgrounds in the campus for students to walk and play. But still there are many classes whose benches are being broken by the students or there are no smart classes. But overall the infrastructure is good enough to survive for 4-5 years.

Campus is also good. There are lots of opportunity in my university is various fields. There are opportunity in fashion and modeling as well. Recently one of girls from my university was the Miss Haryana finalist. Once miss India audition was also organized in our university and two girls got selected. There are opportunities in anchoring, singing, and sports also. So overall campus like is full of adventures and opportunities.
