I'm happy with my experience at IIITDMJ

Overall Rating
I am a 1st year student at IIITDMJ. I am overall very happy with my experience at the college. The campus is good and spacious. The hostels are pretty good compared to other colleges. The mess food is average. We only have vegetarian food in the mess, but from April 2024, non-veg will also be served in the mess. The faculty that have taught me so far, have been good. The crowd is also good. There are five branches in the college, there are about 600 students in our batch. So it has a bigger crowd as compared to other IIITs.
 

Academics Rating
I am in the ECE branch. The faculty that taught me so far has been well-experienced, good, and helpful. Class timings in 1st year have not been very hectic so far but become hectic in the second year. I have had sufficient time so far to look at coding, etc.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties have been good. They are well experienced and qualified. Many are engaged in research and other activities. Mostly they have all been helpful and accommodating in teaching. However, most of them are strict about attendance and focus in the class. Additional resources required will be provided by seniors and are a great help.
 

Placement Rating
Placements have been good in the college for the past few years. However, due to the recession, the placement scenario is not as good here just like it is in the other colleges of India. I have heard that most of my seniors got good internships in previous years.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels are surprisingly well-built and spacious. In the first year, students are provided with triple-sharing rooms with sufficient space. There is a common bathroom provided for students in a block. The infrastructure in the campus is good. Overall I am very happy with the hostels.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is good, all the main buildings have been constructed well. The hostels and lecture halls are built well with all the required facilities. Barbershop, laundry, cafeteria, and general store are all available within the campus along with primary health centre.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is average to good. It is better than most IIITs but is not as good as compared to better NITs and IITs. The crowd is good as there are more branches and is comparable to NITs. Most clubs are good and carry out events for the students. There aren't many hangout sports in the campus except for a few shops. Festivals are celebrated here with good programs however college-wide fests have not been very successful.

    The institute offers a variety of courses and has good placements which make it one of India's prestigious institutes. It has good clubs like Cultural Club, Technical Club and Sports Club in which students can participate and enjoy their institute life by gaining knowledge.   • My personal opinion about IIITDMJ

    IIITDM Jabalpur was really a good experience. I enjoyed a lot and gained a good amount of knowledge from the institute. The college life is good here. The main thing I love in the college is interaction between the seniors and juniors. The culture of the college impressed me. I choose this college because of three reasons. One is my JEE MAINS rank and other is the average package and median package, and the last one is the faculty due to their qualification from well known institutes.... Read Full Review

    Well if you go by placements then this institute has better placements than most other NITs which you would get at the same rank. After spending a year I can say it has a very good environment for both your personality development and overall growth. You will have good junior and senior bond and can ask for any help from your seniors. The college life is good and satisfactory; you would enjoy the festivals a lot.     My experience at this college has been positive overall, despite a few drawbacks in infrastructure like shared hostel rooms, average mess food, and the remote location. The placements are the college's strongest aspect but with recession it had experienced some downfall still better than many NITs and IITs of India.
