My overall experience at Thapar Institute is very good. The infrastructure of hostels and campus is very good. Food at mess is great. It has a world class library and it also provides good placements as compared to other private colleges. All things considered, it boasts excellent professors, a nice atmosphere, and outstanding facilities.

Academics at Thapar is nice. It offers mainly 3 branches related to computer: computer science and engineering, computer engineering, and computer science and business studies. Entry requirements are taken as both boards (PCM percentage) and JEE mains score. A December test also can be given by students after taking admission in Thapar to upgrade their respective branches. Punjab state quota is also applied for students who either line in Punjab or have completed their class XII from Punjab.

Faculty is very good at Thapar. Here teachers solve doubts and one can also write conference paper and research paper under respective professor offered in final year. Teachers are very well qualified and most of them are also doing research associated with government. The style of teaching is really good.

There is a special cell known as Placement Cell for placement issues. And also have a center, training and development cell which help during internships and helps making resumes and other essential things required during placement. Thapar has strong alumni network that help with placement opportunities. Almost 85% of students are placed here every year through on campus opportunities. Almost all students in computer related branches are placed. Many big companies like Google, JPMorgan Chase, De Shaw, Accenture, American Express, etc. visits for placement opportunities.

There are many hostels for girls and boys. Approximately 6 hostels for girls and 12 hostels for boys. Many types of hostel room are available: 1 seater with or without attached washroom AC or Non AC, sharing washroom, 2 seater (with or without attached washroom, AC or Non AC), 3 seater (with or without attached washroom AC or Non AC), and a 4 sharing room (specifically for boys). All hostels have an evening and night canteen. Laundry is also included twice a week. M hostel (for boys) even has a sky walk inside the hostels. Fountains can be find inside the hostel. Majority of hostels have collaborated with Sodexo for mess facilities. A common gym and study room is also provided in all hostels. A gym instructor also visits regularly for a particular time. Hostels have WIFI facilities as well. Fees for hostel ranges from Rs.36000 - Rs.60000, depending upon room type for each semester.

There are separate academic blocks for mechanical, civil, computer, and other all departments. At least one canteen is present in each academic block. Labs, library, and classrooms all have Wi-Fi. One can study in common area in the academic blocks. Large auditoriums are also there for any event or other discussions. Each academic block is centralised AC, equipped with smart boards and projectors.

There is a health centre in side our campus which provides medical facilities and a physiotherapy centre and a medical shop. A park called Nirvana is also there that comprises of a lake. The sports complex promotes physical health and leisure activities by providing facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. Banking facilities and ATM services are available within the campus premises. Many fests are organized in Thapar like: Saturnalia, Urja (sports), Orion (technical fest), and many more. There are many technical and non technical clubs, clubs related to entrepreneurship, drama, photography, literature, dance, singing societies, etc.
