My overall experience at this institute is good but not the best. As my percentile in JEE main is not good, I did not get a seat in nits or iits through JOSSA counseling. So I applied for OJEE state level counseling for which I got a seat in production department of VSSUT at my lower rank of 6 lakh in JEE main. I should not suggest this institute to you if got a decent rank in JEE main. Then go for NIT, Rourkela or other prestigious institute. VSSUT is a tier three college. The only advantage is it's fee structure, it's very low compare to institute like NITs where fee is from 8 to Lakhs for B.Tech. VSSUT is the oldest institute of Odisha so it's alumni network is very wide. So you can join it, if you want a college for affordability and with a good placement record.

VSSUT offers B.Tech course in different engineering branches. Except food processing, textile, biotechnology, aerospace, etc. It offers all the courses of engineering. Also it offers B.Tech, integrated M.Sc, Ph.D, and distance education. VSSUT has foreign student exchange programs for Ph.D scholars. As my course is production engineering and to get into this branch your rank in JEE main should be below 7 lakhs if you belong to general category. You can get this college with low rank if you have some reservation. Your score in any intermediate educational board should be greater than 45%. Actually I don't chose VSSUT production department it chose me and I don't have any option as I was already taken a drop. So I joined it. Also I want to share one thing that you can join VSSUT with spot admission, lateral entry program of you have enrolled in ITI or through OJEE state level JEE main examination that is conducted by state government.

Faculty of my production department is good but not excellent. Some faculties have much educational qualification but their teaching style is not good. Some faculties of production department are not that much experienced but their teaching methodology is excellent. Especially the basic manufacturing teacher teaches with utmost passion and dedication. His teaching methodology I like the most. Most of the faculties are highly qualified and they have an honored doctorate degrees from prestigious IITs and NITs. So overall production department faculties are good but not the best. You have to study by yourself from different online sources ultimately to pass the examinations.

Yes, college has a special Training and Placement Cell. But it only helps the circuital and some of the core branches like mechanical engineering students to get job or pursue an internship. But for production department nothing is up to the mark. It does not even provide us proper guidance to approach the company. So it's not functioning well as per production department’s placement statistics. Placement of our branch is also very low as there is not proper infrastructure for production department.

Yes, residential facilities are available in our college. And hostel life of students is decent. They provide rooms as per branch and each room consist a table, chair, cupboard, hanger, beds which are provided by the hostel authorities. 4 blocks 7 boys and 5 girls’ hostels are presented in VSSUT. For recreational purpose indoor as well as outdoor games facilities are available in our hostel. The main negative point is it's mess food. Mess food is not at all hygienic. They use low quality oils and masalas which leads to some serious illness to students. And, menu of the message is non-vegetarian oriented. Swimming pool is also present in our hostel at the backyard of the building.

Campus is big in size. The main campus where academic block is present is nearly about 100 acres. The dean academic affairs build is present at the front gate. Library and placement cell is at the right side of the gate of VSSUT where you enter to the college. Other buildings like civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical, metallurgy, computer science, and information technology are present in our campus separately. Each department has a separate building. The laboratories are present side by side near the chemical engineering department. A special digital learning centre that is called e-learning centre is in the college which helps us to do some productive work in online platform.

Honestly speaking I have a mixed feeling about campus life. My peer pressure is not good so unproductive they are. As college does not have any technical facility to help our department, so I have to learn from online resources. Clubs like programming club, robotics, veer racers, etc. are present, but we don't get any advantage as they include students from only circuital branch. We can only join the cultural, music, and social service club but it does not help us for placement preparation and all. Fests like vassunt, samavesh have done every year and it's such an amazing and enjoyable day for the students. So club culture in VSSUT is good if you are present in a circuital branch or core branch like chemical engineering as they have many facilities for this branch, but for production department you will not get what you deserve to be a skillful engineer.
