Pillai Engineering College Rasayani is an average college for engineering. The one located in New Panvel holds greater reputation and rankings than this college. The admission process is same for both the colleges. I got into this college in Rasayani because my percentile was pretty much low. I think getting into the Pillai Engineering College New Panvel requires a considerably higher percentile. Though my college was situated outside Mumbai, the college management was extremely cooperative and friendly. One can also get admission through management quota in this college.

I took up pure electronics in my B.E. degree course. I wanted to take up electronics and telecommunications but because of my low percentage I had to compromise on pure electronics. The subjects covered were beyond my expectations which were a great thing. I did not go for any coaching as the lectures were sufficient enough.

Most of the faculty of my college were ME pursuing students. But that did not degrade the quality of education and knowledge sharing. In fact, the student faculty taught us with great interest and put in their maximum efforts. This was a win win situation as both the lecturer and the students learned in the teaching process. I was very comfortable with the faculty and their teaching style.

We did have companies coming in our college for placements. But unfortunately, I was not eligible for appearing for the placements. The criteria for appearing was that one should not have a single active KT and I had many. But the ones who could appear had bagged jobs in reputed companies. They also got nice packages.

Our college had hostel facility only for girls. Boys had to look for rented flats and so on which was also not a bad option. I stayed in the girls hostel for as long as I was in the college. It was a good experience as the rooms were well-maintained. The washroom facility was really clean which was a plus point. There was a warden in the hostel who kept a watch on the activities of the girls such as the arriving and departing timings from the hostel room.

Ours college campus was a huge one which was spread on a large area. The classrooms were big enough and the labs too were spacious. The playground was a nice place to be in. I loved sitting in the canteen munching on my favourite dish. I also spent most of time in the college library as I was a hostelite.

Because this college is located in a small town called Rasayani, the campus life looks more like that of Munna bhai’s movie. The local students have an upper hand on the committee and they tend to dominate the freshers. I’ve been staying away from all this to protect myself from the unnecessary issues.
