Ramjas College B.A Review By Yashi Bhardwaj

I have always wanted to study in the University of Delhi as it is famous for its arts' faculty and bachelor of Arts courses. Therefore, I gave the Entrance exam for it, that is, Common University Entrance Exam (CUET). And surprisingly I cleared it. And got Ramjas college in the First cut off itself. Though, it was not my First preference but its authenticity and the familiarity you feel here, you can't in any other college of the Delhi University. Most important thing is that I have got the course with the best faculty and Department in Ramjas which is Bachelor of Arts honors in English. And Ramjas being famous for its English Department which is known as RED (Ramjas English Department), I can for real tell you that it is not any exaggeration that the Department is really good. In the First semester itself I can tell through the behavior and the way of teaching of the professors of English honors that it was indeed a good choice to not update and go for the one I have been directed to in the First go. Overall, I joined many societies here including the debate society.

As per my course the academic activities have been kind of tough as we are lit Crits, we were not able to understand at First that what do we have to do, How are we going to study, do we have to just read the novels, plays and dramas and How are we going to write the exams and to be honest it is still a bit confusing for us to solve this Riddle. Though we do not get as many marks as the other courses people get but we were Trying to reach up to the mark of our professors. They are helping us in this too and we get help and efforts from them when needed.

The faculty of the Ramjas English Department is changed recently and therefore we do not know the new professors that much. But we are getting to know and understand each other. The previous faculty was indeed a balanced one. It had all kind of People needed for a team work. There were strict professors as well as the lenient ones. The new faculty is also trying their best to create a bond with the students and hope they do so without facing any miss behavior from the students.

We do have a placement Cell in Ramjas which just recruited the new members for it from the freshers. Though it is still dominated by the commerce students, the students of other courses are joining it in numbers this year. Hope it does well in the near future as well.

Our college has both the girl’s and the boy’s hostel and they are really cheap with good facilities. There is three times meals and snacks time. Sep rate kitchens, gym facilities, wifi and many other facilities available in the hostels. But to secure a seat in the hostel is really tough as it is a government institute, is follows the reservation Policy and the merit policy. Therefore rooms are availed according to the certificate of both caste and marks.

As it is a governmental Based Institute, I was not expecting much from its infrastructure. But it was actually better than what I had expected. There is a lot of nature and greenery, a vast campus area, two different play grounds, sports complex building including gym and indoor Games facilities, volleyball, Badminton and basketball courts, two buildings, a canteen, an amphitheater, a beautiful auditorium and many more. Though its infrastructure is not as good as that of a private Institute but still a lot better.

As Ramjas college is a part of the north campus of the University of Delhi, it is surrounded by many other colleges of the Delhi University itself, like Hindu College, Miranda House, St. Stephans, Daulat Ram College, Kirorimal College, the Cluster Innovation Centre and others. It gives a very academic and studious vibe as you are surrounded by many students here. And the University has its fest season as well, where you can make new friends and enjoy partying. Therefore, it is a good mixture of study and party, where you won't feel burdened much and can enjoy your teenage life as well.
