Academy of Technology B.Tech Review By Subhronil Saha

My overall experience is good at the college. The project, semester exams, continuous assessments, lab experiments be it scientific or technical is very much assisted through subject teachers and seniors.

Well technically speaking through facts, my course is B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, though if students complete MOOCS every year then they get degree termed as B.Tech in CSE with honors. The entry requirements are WBJEE/JEE Mains/through management quota (not suggested). The eligibility is 10k-13k rank in WBJEE normally and JEE Mains is 50k-300k rank AIR. My motive for such course was to be proficient in Computer Science and it’s related in depth application of various algorithms plus other technologies to work on through college technical communities.

Generally most faculty members are assistant professors with M.Tech degree and also some with Ph.D done plus ongoing research in various emerging technologies specially machine learning, maths domain and so on. Even a renowned mathematician professor got enlisted in top 100 scientists of the world. The style of teaching is very flexible but it is sometimes monotonous, yet they still do their best with presentation and value addition through after class explanations.

Yes we have a placement department which has got very good connections with our alumni who are among our hiring partners. The cell does keep on providing adequate support through materials and training classes on English, aptitude, skill development and Java/C sessions which are as per the industry standards.

Yes, we have hostels but I do not have much information about it as I stay in PG. But I got to know that apart from food everything is pretty good, but food is average. But I understand also that it is the part of the struggle. But nearby local mess named Ashirvad provides excellent quality food at reasonable prices monthly/daily. The food expenses and mess expenses are really cheap at places around the college.

There are total 4 academic blocks (A, B, D, and E), admin block, canteen and gym. The infrastructure is well maintained in computer labs (data structure & algorithms lab, operating systems lab, computer networks lab, software engineering lab, and so on), mechanical labs, and electrical labs. There are excellent technical teaching and circuit’s professors to assist us in our lab experiments. The library block is also very good where we can study in 2 shifts; there is a book bank and general library. Though the washroom facilities of males are little below average but for females I heard it is okay.

Our huge fest ‘Arcadia' around March-April is conducted for maximum 3 days but the aura and enthusiasm for its preparation is a month long. Many bollywood singers come to our college during this fest. There is AOT ingenium magazine (web) communities through Utkarshi, Sarvgyan and so on for technical and cultural contents. The Google developer student clubs, student chapters of every engineering department hosts hackathons, open source fests, competitions, seminars, workshops and various session on many technical and non technical topics too. Overall the friendship between juniors and seniors are also very good compared to other colleges. The environment is very positive and the beauty of the college is mesmerizing. The college is even recognised under AICTE, UGC, NAAC accreditations.
