University Departments, Rajasthan Technical University, formerly Engineering College, Kota is a premiere institution located in Kota, Rajasthan. It was established in 1981 and is an AICTE approved, NBA accredited, and UGC affiliated institution. It is a top rated technical institution in Rajasthan situated right in the campus of Rajasthan Technical University, which affiliates more than 168 colleges all over Rajasthan. It hosts students who want to pursue higher education in Engineering and Management related fields.

The university conducts more than 37 educational programmes covering various branches of B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D, MBA as well as MCA. The courses include the modern-tech subjects like Machine Design, Renewable Technology, Nanotech, and IEM. 10+ courses are offered for B.Tech in multiple branches including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, CS, IT, EIC, Aeronautical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, P&I, ECE and Electrical engineering. The academic curriculum of the institution adheres to a multi-disciplinary and industry-oriented approach with special emphasis on hands-on learning. Eligibility criteria for admission of UG students is aggregate 75% in Class XII. Two separate merit lists are prepared. The first one is based on JEE Mains score, which is followed by merit list based on Class XII Score. Both these merit lists are combined to form a combined merit list which forms the basis for further counselling sessions. The Counselling sessions are undertaken through REAP (Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process). Admissions for M.Tech are conducted on basis of their GATE Score.

The faculty team of RTU, Kota comprises of experts in respective niches with teaching experience of 20+ years. The faculties are mostly alumni of the top national technical institutions like IITs and NITs and are well-reputed for their academic excellence and research. The teaching methodology adopted is highly oriented with the demand of industry and market. Practical learning experience is emphasized for better understanding of concepts and to equip students for on-field jobs.

The institute fosters an active placement cell that facilitates regular student training and counselling sessions for placements in top companies. Various workshops, alumni lectures and seminars are conducted from time to time to help students identify their skills and relevant job opportunities. The Innovation & Incubation Cell of the college is affiliated to start-up aiding agencies like i-Start to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. More than 15 startups in various stages come under the ambit of this cell. The well established alumni network of RTU Kota include Balesh Sharma (CEO, Vodafone Idea Ltd.), Suren Ruhela (Director Program Management, Google Maps), Vikas Sharma (CEO, BALCO Vedanta Group) among others. The top-recruiters are Infosys, TATA, L&T, Wipro, Microsoft, Jaro Educations, Justdial and Sweco India.

RTU Kota provides residential facilities to its students through the 7 in-campus hostels, out of which there are 2 girls’ hostels and 5 boys’ hostels. These hostels have the occupational capacity of 834 boys and 256 girls. The recreational rooms available in each of the hostels are well equipped with indoor sports like Table Tennis, and LED TVs. Study rooms are also provided in each of the hostels. The hostel campus also has Swimming Pools, Badminton Court, and Volleyball Court. The hostels are well-engineered and are in close proximity with academic departments as well as the library.

The sprawling 335 acres of campus area of RTU, Kota houses a wide spectrum of amenities and buildings to facilitate learning and development of students. These include separate academic blocks for various branches, laboratories, administrative building, proctor office, conference halls, bank and post office (in-campus), lecture theatres, auditorium, incubation and innovation building, library as well as sports complex. The laboratories include aeronautical lab, soil mechanics lab, fluid mechanics lab, IT Lab, electrical labs, etc. All these are equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment and practical guides to promote hands-on learning and training experience. The three-storeyed library of the college hosts lacs of books, magazines, editorials, e-journals, and other high-octane knowledge sources across a plethora of fields.

The naturally lush green campus of RTU Kota is situated along the banks of Chambal river, and is in vicinity with the main city, thereby facilitating an easy access to all the amenities including shopping malls, hospitals, city market, bus stand etc. The campus is usually in the mode of celebration and thrill, be it in form of festivities, cultural fests, tech-fests or club activities and meetings. There are various technical and non-technical clubs in the college run by students. The technical clubs include Flying Mustang, Master Builders, Aeromodelling club, Robotics club, Techknights club, Technocryptics club etc. The non-technical clubs include Music club, Dance club, Wordsworth club, Kalam, and Drama club. Indeed Foundation established as a club in 2014, now functions as a NGO that helps rural and slum children to break free from shackles of poverty and illiteracy. These clubs facilitate learning and networking of students by organizing various events, workshops, and activities both in and out of campus. The institute is associated with NCC (National Cadet Corps) and NSS (National Service Scheme) to build character, leadership skills, and discipline in students. RTU Kota also hosts an annual tech-fest and cultural-fest that caters participation of 100+ colleges of Rajasthan, and top Indian institutions.
