Pragati Engineering College B.Tech Review By Anisur Rahman

I was student of Pragati Engineering College and after passing out from PEC so many years back all I can say is that if you have joined the college with a clear picture of what you want to achieve then you are at the right place. Compared to other engineering college the fees is comparatively lower. The college is AICTE approved and is ranked heavily among the engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Yes it is an old-fashioned college where a simple uniform is still in place both for boys and girls. I-card has to be around the neck at any point in time. The alumni group of the college is great and every year the college do conducts an alumni meet. The alumni of this college are so successful and are successfully established all over the globe. All this was an exercise to motivate us and be at the top of our ability to gain as much knowledge as we can from the college.

First of all the course. I feel it was so well constructed that it provided us a progressive understanding of the subjects. After college, we were asked to stay in the college and clear today’s doubts today itself. It felt weird but it was in the interest of students and this made us have a good feel about it once we were accustomed to it. Many students did ignore this but my plan was always simple to stay close to my house and attain as much knowledge as I can. The college has served as a boon for our district as this college is one of the common people and various scholarships and fees waiver programs were running at the college for the students who made the cut to the college but can’t pay the fees.

The faculty was a sheer breed of foxes. So clever that there was no way that a student don’t pay attention in the class. The faculty always reminded us that if you are sincere and ready to learn engineering is the easiest course but it is vice-versa as well. This was true as many students who just joined it for the sake of it were politely asked to make way for the ones who wants to be an engineer. The faculty was smart as they wanted to produce the engineers who understand their roles. All this is good to hear but if you are in this college you will know what I am trying to say.

The placement are good and 70% placements are done on campus and for those who misses out have nothing to fear. The college though is little new but in 2 decades has become a hot favorite destination for companies like JP Morgan, Standard Charted Bank, L&T, and Indian Cements. Most of the placements were in the range of 2 to 4LPA. If you want more then don’t join this college as from the current information that I have got it has increased to 3 to 6LPA. The percent of people getting placed is good enough and so is the package that a fresher can get. Thus laurels to PEC for providing a handsome opportunity to learn and grow by getting placed in some of the biggest corporate of the world.

The college has a residential style hostel facility. The hostel rooms are triple and four sharing. The fees back then was 40k for 4 sharing and 50k for triple sharing. That time the rooms were not air-conditioned but it was getting renovated then so it must have air-conditioned rooms now. The hostel also had a reading room. The one who are not staying in the hostel were not allowed beyond the hostel boundary. The hostel was clean and food was also provided. The food was healthy as students were treated as an asset at PEC.

The classrooms to library everything was clean there. You will hardly find any form of dust in the classrooms or in the corridors. There were 10+ labs at the college campus. You name it and PEC had it. The library was huge not just in terms of books but had a huge reading area as well. The garden besides the admin building was watered regularly and evenings were spent sitting there and chatting with friends. If anyone is caught doing littering at the garden, he/she was punished severely. The college had a zero tolerance against any such activity. The college was not that huge and the open space that was available was automatically converted into sports field whenever students decided to play.

Every day wearing the uniform and taking the college bus never made me feel like I am done with school. The learning was the same as from what we had in school. The strictness and discipline was air-tight. The college may not have given us many opportunities beyond academics but have taught us discipline. The people at the college were mostly the locals or from the state itself. The college is not so popular outside the state but in our district the college is known for educational values that the college has given us.
