It’s been 5 years since I left the college but it still feels like yesterday. RAIT and its campus is very close to my heart. Being a part of the D.Y. Patil group, my college is distinguishable from the other buildings in the campus for its smart architecture. RAIT has consistently received accreditations from the education board for the quality of education extended. I have always had issues with the administration but that got covered up with other excellent features of our college.

I got admitted into Electronics Engineering stream on the basis of my Diploma percentile. As I was a diploma holder, I got a direct seat in the second year of degree. That’s the advantage of pursuing a diploma over normal junior college. Ever since I passed SSC with a 90+ percentile, I’ve had heard that there’s scope in Electronics and Telecommunication engineering so I opted for the same in Diploma. But as my percentile didn’t suffice for the same stream in degree college (R.A.I.T) I had to compromise on pure Electronics branch. Soon, I realised that there wasn’t much difference in the two streams and so it was fine. I did get a depth into the subjects by pursuing this degree course.

Though I don’t remember the exact number of faculties who taught me, I can still visualise some of their teaching styles. My college had a few lecturers with over 30 years of experience which was commendable. Their hold on the class was great and the subject knowledge was also impressive. We too had some freshly joined faculties who were in their learning process as they taught us.

The campus interviews are the cherry on the cake when it comes to my college. We have had the top IT companies who picked up students after some tedious interview rounds. The highest package bagged by one of the students is Rs. 16 Lakhs which is outstanding. When I was in the last year of my college, we had TCS, Tech Mahindra, and many such top IT companies coming for placements. Almost 80% of the students have jobs in their hands before passing out of the college which I think is a great deal.

In the massive campus of D.Y. Patil, my college building was maroon in color and looked colorful. It is a 6-storied building where each floor is painted with a different color. That looks really creative. The classrooms have benches of the combination of wood and iron. There were green glass boards in the classrooms, and a few also had white boards. For me, the cafeteria was the best part of the infrastructure. It was fully air-conditioned and modernised with various equipment’s. We also had huge laboratories where we could perform our experiments in small groups. The auditorium was a luxurious one, at times I would freeze in the centralised air-condition.

RAIT is best known for its fest. All the celebrations were done on a massive scale. I’ve enjoyed myself to the fullest in every fest in my college. I was also a part of my college community which helped me explore new things. I’ve also participated in various creative competitions in my college which gave me immense satisfaction and a nice experience. I’ve had the most beautiful days of my life in the campus with my friends in R.A.I.T.
