Central University of Himachal Pradesh M.A Review By Richa Thakur

As it is a centrally funded university, so the students can expect a good study all at a very reasonable fee. Along with it there are many scholarship programs and educational trips that students are provided with for more exposure and to widen their horizons. Leaning from the best and experienced teachers is a one of its kind of perk, but the Central University adheres to the cultural diversity in itself. Students from all over the country come to study here in the calm environment of Dharamshala, where along with study, students love to explore the nearby places of the Kangra region.

I have done my master's in Journalism and Creative writing from this university. This Master's degree comes under the department of Mass communication. The overall study is good. But as it’s the Masters degree then students are supposed to give their maximum efforts and it's more like friendly teaching. In the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, the study culture is vivid in the open arena, and students are made to indulge in the overall learning experience rather than just getting the bookish knowledge. The co-curricular activities are smarty incorporated with the academics and that somehow helps the students for their growth and improves their intellects. Many of the students can be seen preparing for the government services exams along with their Masters course.

The faculty of the Mass Communication and Journalism department is very versatile. Faculty members are like an amalgam of the new media expertise and the conventional way of teaching and learning. There are wide scope and support from the faculty members that would help the students to chase their dreams. Either it what about doing higher studies like Ph.D. and also of getting a career in the media houses. From getting knowledge of media equipment to start a blog, teachers encourage the students to skill themselves to make their mark in the outside world.

Yet, there is a placement cell in the University and every year few companies also visit the university in seeking the best employee for them to meet their needs. But overall the placement is not as expected. The maximum of students after doing their masters have to look for a job all by themselves. Because it is a government Central University, so it's not that focused on providing maximum job placements to its pass outs. Yet, some of the teachers on the account of their personal approach do help students to get a job after they complete their degree from this university.

There are one girl's hostel and a boy's hostel that’s what the university provides. While a maximum of the students like to stay outside on a rent basis or as a PG so that they can explore more without the hostel restrictions. Hostels are up to the mark. There is a separate body that looks after the smooth working of both the hostels as well student body actively take interest in hostel welfare. Most of the boys and girls prefer to live in a hostel as it is vibrant and its good being with the PhD and PG students of different streams that come from different cultural backgrounds.

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh is in the developing phase. So, students and teachers are supposed to adjust to the infrastructure. While the administration tries hard to keep the smooth working of the academic block and never let the academics suffer due to lack of resources. But space is a big issue. The university is not as spacious as it is supposed to be. The cafeteria, library, and classes are quite irregular and students remain in a shifting mode for having their classes. But for future students, it is supposed that the University would be leveraged enough to conduct its proper work.

The campus life of the university seems busy and vibrant. As the students may see busy with their college projects, preparing for the upcoming events, and doing their own thing. The faculty and the students may see sitting together, discussing the things as well as sipping the coffee or tea together. It's just a friendly environment on the campus of the central university of Himachal Pradesh. Up to date fashion and cultural vividity is also there which keeps the campus life intact and lively. One can choose this University for an overall stress-free and exposure-focused environment.
