Overall Rating
First of all, it's one of the finest colleges for B.Tech in West Bengal. Its academic is not so tough, even average students will be able to enrol very easily. Faculties are very understanding and helpful. Internship start from 5th semester and almost 100% eligible candidates get placed. Hostel facility is very nice, there is no ragging as such, food is good enough. Infrastructure and campus life is alright. So, a choice for others.
 

Academics Rating
It's a four year course. You should have scored the cut-off mark in WBJEE examination which differs according to branch and have at least 60% marks in 12th class. There is a B.Sc lateral entry in 2nd year. These courses develop you on personal and professional level. Any board student is eligible to apply in WBJEE examination.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is different for 1st year and 2nd year onward are same almost. They teach from very basic level so that everyone can understand it comfortably. They are highly qualified and their teaching is very nice. Almost every faculty has good enough experience, some of them are very experienced. There are different faculties for practical.
 

Placement Rating
Each student has to present a Seminar on the Internship/ Plant Training program. In all cases, boards consisting of the Teacher(s) In-Charge of Internship/Plant Training. 1(one) departmental External Examiner and another is HOD as the Chairman of the Board. They will jointly conduct the Seminar-cum-Viva-Voce Examination. The evaluation will be based on Report, Seminar, Presentation, and Viva-Voce. In my stream every student got placed last year. Average package is 5.5 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel Life is very compact for 1st and 2nd year students. Three students live in single room and for hall is allotted for some of 3rd year students. To avail hostel one's home should be at least 60 kms away from college. Hostel fees is very low approx. 1600 per year living cost and 2500 approx. for mess and canteen.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure includes academic buildings, libraries, and administrative offices. There are different buildings for applied physics stream and different buildings for chemistry applied branch. They have their own separate library for each stream. There are two canteens in the Rajabazar campus.
 

Campus Rating
The campus is known for its diverse student body and engaging faculty. However, facilities may vary, and some students expressed the need for improved infrastructure. Social and cultural activities contribute to a lively atmosphere, creating a memorable university experience overall. There are different sports every year and symposium are organised for different stream.

    University of Calcutta is one of the top-notch universities of this country for sure. The student teacher ratio is 1:20.     I appeared for WBJEE in 2023 and got a rank of 7332. I opted for University of Calcutta and got admitted in instrumentation Engineering. My over all experience has been excellent. Campus (salt lake) is new and beautiful, classes are air-conditioned, etc. One should definitely take admission if he/she wants to pursue a B.Tech course without hefty fees.... Read Full Review

    I have been a first year student at University of Calcutta for B.Tech course. This University is good for students who are from economically weak background as this college has very less fees. This college provides a wonderful opportunity to students for internship and placements.     Overall experience in the University of Calcutta was great as the campus, faculty, location and environment is decent enough for pursuing Masters in Commerce. The course fees are affordable.
