Nirma University M.Tech Review By Sahil Vasava

The only reason I chose to go for M.Tech was a job and NU has the best placement facility if you want to stay in Gujarat. However, if you can afford to spend over Rs. 2 lacs per semester including hostel then only join this college. The cost was in a way worth it as education loan is easily available for M.Tech students from Nirma. I know this because I was one of those. I elaborated all the options and based on that I chose Nirma and as soon as I knew that we will have an internship program for 6 months I looked nowhere else because if it was again about books I don’t think I would have even opted for M.Tech. NU will provide you the application opportunity as all your knowledge will be fine-tuned at NU for sure. Unlike many other colleges, Nirma has spent heavily on their infrastructure and that was the reason that even during the covid crisis the college had the infrastructure that conducted the final semester exams smoothly and also got us the placement opportunities through video conferencing. Just like to add that intern getting converted at Nirma is the highest that you will find. I worked as an intern with an X company and got converted for a full-time job there. The conversion rate of the intern is 60% at Nirma and therefore if you are looking for a secured job that can help you shape your future then look no far and come to Nirma.

The first 2 semesters were never-ending in a way that the classes lasted over 8 hours daily including the practicals. There were no major breaks in between and when we asked about such a schedule the answer that we got from the management was that momentum is the key and a break will break the momentum. The first 2 semesters were tiring but when we saw the company coming to the campus for the internship opportunities those 2 semesters were forgotten and guess what the 6-month internship and that too a nearby company just helped my cause and I am happy with the kind of opportunity the college provided and also trained us that we leave an impression during our internship itself.

Mix bag as half were supportive while the rest half had nothing to do with telling us what our roles would be and how we should approach the engineering. Their job was to come and teach and they did timely, that’s it. A major and the only disappointment at Nirma was the attitude of the faculty members.

Everyone in Gujarat will agree that Nirma University has the best placement cell and why not because what people don’t know is that the companies are more or less the same that come for B.Tech students and M.Tech students and the difference in package is not more than 30%. If you work 2 years, you will anyways get that increment and therefore the students who only have placements in mind just do M.Tech from Nirma. The average CTC for B.Tech students get is 6 lakhs and for M.Tech it is 8 lakhs. My aim to get placed got solved and therefore has no grumble with the placement opportunity of NU.

There are 2 boys hostel and are strictly for PG students. MBA students and M.Tech students shared the same hostel and the hostel was satisfactory as it was newly constructed and the rooms were so clean and were cleaned daily. Along with the 2 boys' hostel, there is a one girls’ hostel as well for PG students. The hostel has a mess on the ground floor of A block and we were served breakfast, lunch, evening tea and snacks, and finally the meal. The food was Gujarati and outsiders did crib about the food but for me, it was like homemade food.

Over 100 acres in which the University has been built. The University has almost all the departments and earlier some were here and there but now they have brought them all under the same roof. This has made the campus atmosphere as cool as a cucumber. I can’t write all the facilities that are at the campus but in short, the campus have everything newly built and something that will make you feel that the fees is worth it. One thing which needs special attention is the Yoga hall. It is not compulsory and sadly was far from the hostel building or else I would have gone their daily. The Yoga hall starts at 5 am in the morning and students of various courses are found practicing yoga on a daily basis. The campus has a bank and an ATM facility, 2 sports grounds, and a University museum. You can read everything about how the University started and how long it took for the University to reach a position where it is today.

The campus is lively as the class’s timings for all the courses are almost the same. Yes M.Tech had the earliest start and probably ended last. The events were not meant for me at least but if I thought my previous college had the best talent, Nirma surpassed all those expectations for sure.
