COEP Technological University B.Tech Review By Nishu Garge

What I think it's that every student has a different experience with his or her college life. Some have good experience with the faculty but don't like the infrastructure, some like the infrastructure and academics but have problems with the faculty. Not everyone will have the same taste and experience. Though, I didn't like all the aspects of COEP Pune, that doesn't make it any less of a college. The COEP has some great plus points which I am grateful for along with some of its negative points. The college staff helps you in every way to build yourself socially, academically and many other ways. The college shapes your personality and knowledge in terms of the real world.

While since my sophomore year, we were assigned different projects and assignments. I am now in the third year of Mechanical Engineering. I also got the opportunity to be the part of the organizing committee for ISRO's space exhibition held in 2019 in Pune. I also taught physics to an IIT-JEE batch in Amravati as an intern. It was such a great experience for me. I got these opportunities because of the faculty and my knowledge. I got to learn so many new things and understand what actually is the role of an engineer in society. The college has a very huge library that is loaded with a large amount of academic books. There are books on every topic in the library. The unit tests and Nick tests the faculty conduct, I guess, they could do better than that. This all happens maybe because COEP is an autonomous college.

I didn't find them supportive enough to encourage me, in case of academics. This does not mean that all the faculties are like this, I am just sharing my experience. But during placements time, the faculties were encouraging enough to make students ready for whatever they are going to face in the recruitment interview. Faculty members do have certain good degrees and knowledge when it comes to their respective subject. Though some of my friends really like their teaching. If you are ambitious enough to achieve your goals, no matter what then, I think, no one has the power to stop you.

It is no hidden that is your place famous for its placements. The packages these companies offer are as high as Rs. 40 to 45 lacs. But one really needs to work hard for such packages. Otherwise no company offers you this much package for doing nothing. You have to have that talent in you required for that placement. The professors are pretty good when it comes to making students ready for the placement interviews. They are very encouraging and in such cases. If only they could do better at teaching the knowledge they already have. But if you analyse it, you'll see every year the number of students getting placement is reduced. The college really needs to focus.

I already live in Pune so there is no need for me to stay in a hostel. Though I would have loved that. COEP hostel has a gym also. It has a sports ground over which they arrange tournaments and different matches. It also has a court for lawn tennis, badminton and table tennis. I have a couple of friends who stay in the hostel and only from that I can tell you all this. They admit that the hostel is not well maintained and it really needs to be taken care of. The rooms are not tidy and hence are congested. But I have seen those who live in the hostel have a special bond between them. I wish I have gotten the chance to experience the hostel life.

The college has great infrastructure. It has big classrooms that are big enough to make the students sit one bench away and one on each bench during exams. The college has 3 auditoriums; two of them are small while one is huge. The auditorium which is very big in size has 2000 + capacity to accommodate the students. The college's infrastructure gives vintage vibes because of the buildings that are very old. But looking at them, it does not feel old but it feels unique. The college area has so much greenery and that too is taken care of very well. The sole reason that the college looks beautiful is its well maintained greenery.

This is my favorite part of the College, the COEP campus. One can actually fall in love with the campus COEP has maintained. It really gives the sense of reassurance when you enter the campus. The college has a canteen and I must mention the food is very good. I really like the samosa and Vada pav they serve there. The festivals and events are celebrated with all the togetherness and enthusiasm of students. Those are the days that students actually feel alive and relieved from regular college hustles. When we find some of the lectures boring, we try to bunk classes. But this does not always happen because the security and faculty keeps checking on students, whether they attend regular classes or not.
