Adamas University MBA Review By Debanjan Ghosh

I will share my experience as I passed out just 2 years back. One thing that stood out at Adamas University is that ratio of boys and girls is exact. Inclusiveness among the students makes this college one of the best and I was so happy to be a part of Adamas. Every Saturday some or the other activities were organized at the University and the attendance at those activities helped garner some extra marks that added in the final tally. The kind of labs that are here can match some American Universities but not any Indian for sure. Managing and learning from organizing the events used to be the task assigned to MBA students. If you come up with innovative ideas the college backed those ideas and also shelled out as much as money required. This is where University stands out as they used to spend with open arms if you have some fresh ideas. The University has some newly built conference rooms, classrooms, and seminar halls where we had interactive sessions every now and then.

In MBA from what I heard that students hardly have time but not with Adamas University. The classes obviously were lengthy but manageable. The classrooms bright shining board always had a nice though written on it to start our day. The professors were greeted warmly by the students and we had our own building named Business and economics and after a combines first year with 231 students the next year we all were divided as per our specializations that are more than ever. I had chosen MBA (Entertainment Management) and it was a great experience as the projects that we handled were from relative industries and the course material too was in accordance. All the drills that we had to do support the specialization that we intended to did.

More than 25 faculty for sure as we had nearly 30 theory + practical subjects in all. All of them were PhD holders and their teaching ability was just too good. The 2nd year which literally a practical year for us was full supported by our faculty members. If we have planned our drills the faculty gave us the advantage of not being in the class. I will admit that all the teachers did make a lasting impression on me because I learned a lot through their experience and the way they taught us.

The University has set-up placement cell and students from each department can directly approach them. Even the faculty members sent their recommendation and we had many sessions where the faculty members took a mock test or an audition I should say of the placement interview. That built confidence in each one of us and that is why when the companies like Genpact, Amazon, ITC, Sun Pharma, Byju’s and ACC knocked our doors they got the desired candidates. The placement was not 100% for sure but still decent considering that the University is still new. The complaint though is that the subjects we chose had nothing to do with the placement that we got. If there are so many departments then they should get those students place accordingly.

There are 3 boys and 2 girls’ hostel in the campus. Since I was a local guy I didn’t chose to stay in hostel but otherwise the hostel is good. There are options as you can choose AC and non ac rooms and also on the sharing numbers as well. The size of the rooms is good and has all the facilities so that once they are back to the room they don’t have to step out. The hostel mess was accessible for all and even I had lunches there sometimes. It can’t be compared to the home made food but was above average for sure. The hostel is strict and one can go out of the hostel at any time but can’t leave the campus. The wardens had all the whereabouts and even though students were matured enough had to be glued to the campus. Just near the hostel building there’s also a CCD Express outlet.

Why don’t they declare the University as a separate town? The area and the strength of the college is more than enough to declare the University a town. Well, jokes apart the campus is lightning and the number of buildings I can’t remember as they were many. All the departments and sub-departments had their own blocks just like we were under business and economic block. The auditorium was size of a college as 800-1000 students can easily be a part of that auditorium. The sports ground were also multiple and the facilities were amazing. Being a Bengali guy, I do judge a college infrastructure with the kind of canteens that it has. One canteen served non-veg dishes while the other one was pure vegetarian. The college campus like old cliché has everything to make it the best college campus of Bengal for sure if not in India.

Well I did spent a fair bit time on the campus even after the college was over. Making friends in the campus was easy as we did have interactive sessions at the beginning that helped open with faculty and the seniors. We finally had a full-fledge fest during our final semester and it was all organized by students. Thus the opportunity that Adamas campus provides is way beyond just the academics.
