IIT Kanpur would definitely be a great place to learn, explore and of course best placements. For any engineering student placement is very important and this college guarantees best placements. Apart from academics, you will be provided a platform where you can do whatever you want. This college taught me to be self-independent and express myself among people. The green lush environment ignites young minds to grow naturally. If you once get into the college, you will be able to follow your passion and this college provides a better platform and space as compared to other colleges.

To get into college you need to pass JEE advanced examination with decent rank. Academics here are really tough as compared to other IITs. Even professors don’t hesitate to fail students in their subjects. You have to study regularly to get good grades. Quizzes here are also tough and have a good percentage in the final result also. But the overall weight age is dependent on the professor and the course.

Faculty is very helpful but strict at the same time. They are alumni from prestigious colleges and are dedicated to their subjects. The students who are willing to go to foreign for their further studies get benefitted by these professors. They get guidance and referrals. Some teachers don’t know the correct method of teaching even though they have a lot of experience and knowledge means they are unable to deliver properly but they can help in doubt solving. There are also extra classes, tutorial classes taken by Ph.D and M.Tech students.

Placements are excellent in college. There is cell present known as SPO which coordinates the entire placement as well as Internships which is fully managed by students of campus itself.

Hostels in IIT Kanpur are called Halls (Hall of Residence). As a fresher you will get Hall 13 for boys and Hall 4 for girls. Living in hostels is really the best part of college. Food is above average and when I talked with my other friends at different IITs, I encountered that we have the best mess among all. Yes, we have a different menu from Monday to Sunday but as the time passes you will get bored definitely. When we have a hostel day celebration, we get a different menu. We have three days for non-vegetarian food also. We have two and three accommodation rooms also but in your first year you will get three accommodations. Apart from mess facilities we have a TV room, TT room, Gym, common room, Canteen facilities too.

IIT Kanpur has a lush green beautiful campus. The library is very big and beautiful with a wide variety of books. The overall infrastructure is really good. In academic blocks there is departmental building, Faculty building and lecture hall complex. Lecture hall complex is the place where classes are held for all four years. Roads and other buildings are also well maintained. We have Open air theatre also which is well constructed and has a capacity of about three thousand students. There are 13 halls 11 for boys and 2 for girls.

We got a lot of freedom on campus. We can roam anywhere and everywhere, the campus area is very safe and secure, there are so many guards at different places. We have different clubs where you can follow your passion and can embrace your skills. We have fests like Antaragni which is a grand fest and sports fest like udghosh for all sports enthusiasts and tech fest also. We have entrepreneurship cell and financial club for new minds to nurture. And have a strong alumni support network. For freshers there is DJ night, movie night, fresher’s party and many more.
