ICFAI University BA+LLB Review By Lipika Sinha

ICFAI University, Dehradun is a private Institute. It provides many courses for UG and PG. It ranked 82 for Private Engineering by The Week 2020, Ranked 89 for Private Engineering by India Today 2020 and Ranked 26 for Law by The Week 2019. To get admission in this college is very easy as the admissions are purely on merit and your 12th score with a 50% aggregate and a decent CLAT score will land you at ICFAI. The college has some of the finest faculties and infrastructure with in-house moot courts that gives us exposure.

I am studying in BA-LLB (Hons.). It's a 5 year course and is tiring but the college has found a way of keeping us in the loop. There is a mandatory interview session before your seat is confirmed. According to my experience, almost all teachers are very supportive if you are thinking to take admission in law course. Academic wise the college is good as it has the right set of teachers and infrastructure that is required in a law college. I have been to many other law colleges but ICFAI is way far then them in terms of education.

In law course you will get good and educated faculty. They teach us well. The teachers are knowledgeable and are also very easy to approach. They have given a major impetus on how to communicate and raise the volume bar as that is what matters in legal studies. The course part is taken care of very well by our faculty members and practical are something where students are required to be more attentive. The professors give us case study during breaks and before the next term we are required to submit our notes on the same. The faculty members are one of the best and know how to train us so that we can become eligible lawyers.

The placements to be honest are not that great. Some law firms and few corporate do sign-in but the average placement is even less that of commerce graduate students. However the college has taught us enough to practice on our own.

As of now, ICFAI don’t have its own hostel and students has to arrange their accommodation on own. University is about to build their hostel inside the campus. They don't have inside hostel till now. Dehradun is comparatively cheaper and many students from outside comes and reside here. Finding an accommodation is not just easy but cheap as well. 5k for boarding and lodging and you will have a nice place that will welcome you with open arms.

In terms of area the college is small as they have one main building and one subordinate building. The area left over is where the new hostel construction is going on. The college has a 2 floor library and a canteen that takes care of our daily brunches. In terms of infrastructure the campus is new and the building by and large is new and the campus has all the facilities that students seek to make sure the students enjoy a seamless connectivity.

I attended college only for a year and then this covid thing happened. However, my first with the college was no less than a roller coaster ride. The lectures, the case studies, the moot-court sessions, and the time spent with friends at the cafeteria was something that made me calm that yes I can be here for 4 more years. I had made enough memories in the first year itself and can keep boasting as the college has all the attributes that can make student feel home inside the college campus.
