The faculty of Fishery Sciences is situated in Chakaria near Kavi Subhas Metro Station. I heard about the course B.F.Sc i.e. Bachelor of Fishery Sciences and its amazing future from my biology teacher. Our institute is accredited by ICAR and one of the best fishery colleges in India. If you love fish and want to pursue your career in the fisheries then this University is the best option for you. The academic pressure here is not so much, that's why you can also prepare for the agricultural competitive exams. In this college you can also get scholarships. All the UG students get scholarships here. ICAR, State Government, and the university providing the scholarships. And the best part is if you've love for Kolkata then this college can provide you a very good position in terms of roads, metro, bus, and all. In The most important above all is your future, in now a day’s competitive market it's hard to get a job. But I can say if you're a fisheries graduate at least you get a job which can help you to win the bread for your family. If you want more, you've to work really hard. If you've love for fish, and rural life you can choose this institute. The fees are only 5710 per semester which is very less compared to other fishery institute of India. Also you can have good mess food here in 1700-2000 rupees per month.

The course is of 4 years, including 8 semesters. I'm each semester you've to read 10-11 courses. Max of the courses is coming with practicals. 100 marks for each course, 20 practical and 80 theories. The last two semesters are of Study tour (Bombay, Goa, Chennai, and Kerala), training programmes and entrepreneurship development programmes. If you want admission then you've to secure a very good marks in English z Physics, chemistry and Biology in Higher Secondary Exams , students outside Bengal can take admission through ICAR UG now CUET exams. If you're a general candidate then 93% marks in HSC is a safe place. The main motive to enroll is to try something different apart from others and try to secure a job at least.

The teachers are highly qualified; most of them have Ph.Ds. the teachers are from everywhere in India. They taught well. But as a college student you can't expect spoon feeding from your professor. But if you focus you can understand the topics. There are total 9 departments named Aquaculture, Aquatic Animal Health, Aquatic Environment Management, Fishery Resources Management, Fish In Nutrition, Fish Processing Technology, Fishery Engineering, Fishery Economics, Statistics, Marketing, and Fishery Extension. Every department has at least 2 teachers, some departments has even four teachers in them. Modern teaching using projectors are available. Practical classes are interesting. In the final year student get exposure in the research institutes like CIFA, CIFRI, CIBA, and also the state government institutions like GFTS, FFRTC, etc. This course curriculum makes you industry ready.

This college doesn’t have a Placement Cell. You've to arrange your job on your own. The teachers can help you to get the news of the job. But there are no separate placement cells available.

Yes, there are two boys hostel named Dolphin for IG students, Piranha for PG students, and Matsakanya for Girls. The hostels are not hi-fi. It's moderate. The washrooms are also not satisfactory, you've to adjust. But with friendliness, adjustment you can overcome these problems. But 24 hour electricity and water supply is there. Recreational activities like cricket, table tennis, badminton etc. Are available.

There are total 2 academic blocks, one hatchery unit, 3 ponds, and one students mess available. The amenities are not so luxurious but up to the mark. The classrooms have air conditioning facilities with good light. Projector machines available. Not all the KSBs are equipped with essential instruments. The buildings are of modern designs.

It is a small campus. If you're a person who can go with the flow then it's good for you. Hardly can you find 250 students in the campus as the seats are so limited and the faculty is only reserved for the fishery students. There is Students Welfare Committee, this committee organising many cultural events like agamoni, unmesh, etc. NCC and NSS units are there, participating many cultural activities nationwide.
