Dyal Singh College B.Com Review By Harsh Purohit

The overall experience in this college is average as the campus area is really big and there are various playground available but mostly only seniors plays in those ground and juniors don't get any chance to play. Also mostly the seniors are very unfriendly and apathetic. The placement is also average and not extraordinary i.e. 3 lakh per annum. The fest and programmes organised here are also average. The only thing not average about the college is it's campus area which is very huge and gives it an edge over other colleges.

So I enrolled myself in B.com programme, as the name suggest the course teaches you about commerce and trade that how trade and various things takes place in business world. The eligibility criteria for taking admission in Delhi university is to give CUET exam. The cut offs for B.Com programme this year went about 700+ in Dyal Singh College for general candidates and for OBC it was about 600+ and for SC it was around 520+. The motive behind enrolling is course is of course its reputation the course is highly reputed and also have a high placement percentage. Also after completing this course the gates are open as to pursue professional courses or give competitive exams like CAT, GMAT, etc.

The faculty members are mostly young and that's why they don't have a lot of experience in teaching and they don't teach well especially the teachers of 1st year students. Most of the young teachers have just completed theirs masters. Although there are some few experienced teachers as well who have completed their Ph.D and have a lot of experience and they teaches very well and helps students a lot Also the younger teachers takes a lot of leaves which is also frustrating. So overall don't expect a lot from the faculty as most of them are young and inexperienced.

Yes, there is a Placement Cell in our college and it really helps students to get placed in different companies and in different roles. The Placement Cell trains the students for interview preparation and how to grab the opportunities brought in by the Placement Cell. It gives webinar, seminar, and training programs and industrial visits to make students industry ready and brings various companies on board to take interview and select the desirable candidate for the job. The average package offered this year was about 3 lakh per annum and the highest went around 20 lakhs per annum.

Sadly the college dosen't provide hostel facility.

There are three big academic blocks in the college the morning block, the evening block, and the new science block. All of them are really big although not so good keeping in mind the infrastructure of the building. Only evening block has a good infrastructure. There are various facilities in the college like the library. There are two different libraries in the college the evening block and the morning block library and they both are really big and well stocked. There are different section for newspaper and magazine reading and study section and reference section and not so. Overall the infrastructure is average because it's an old building and needs renovation.

The campus life is pretty good if you are coming regularly in college but the crowd is not very friendly here especially the seniors. There are numerous clubs and activities going on so you will never feel bored here, the only catch here is that you have to join some societies to experience all the club activities and college life to the fullest. The sports ground are well maintained being the biggest college area wise it has basketball, football, cricket, volleyball, and kabbadi ground. it's campus area gives it an edge over all the other colleges of Delhi university. It also have various indoor games to play like chess, table tennis, etc.
