WBJEE Exam Pattern 2025: Marking Scheme, Exam Day Requirements & Total Marks

The WBJEE exam pattern 2025 will be notified to the students through the exam’s official website that is “wbjeeb.nic.in”. The paper pattern will help the candidate to know the exam structure. This state-level entrance exam will be conducted in offline OMR based mode. The WBJEE exam will be of 2 hours each for each paper (total 4 hours) including Paper I i.e., Mathematics followed by Paper II i.e., Physics & Chemistry.

The exam pattern is based on the WBJEE Syllabus 2025. As per the section-wise pattern, the exam will be conducted in 2 parts such as:

• Paper I - Mathematics
• Paper II - Physics and Chemistry.

* The above-mentioned questions of Physics & Chemistry will be in a single paper as both the subjects are parts of Paper II.

The WBJEE exam pattern 2025 has a total of 3 subjects including Mathematics in Paper I and Physics & Chemistry in Paper II. The exam pattern for all three subjects are further divided into 3 categories i.e., Category 1, Category 2, and Category 3 on the basis of their marking scheme & number of questions.

For both the papers, including all three subjects, the WBJEE pattern 2025 marking scheme is divided into 3 categories which are mentioned below:

• Category 1:

In the first category, all the questions in both papers (three subjects) carry 1 mark for each question and there is -¼ negative marking for each wrong answer.

• Category 2:

In the second category, all questions in Paper I and Paper II carry 2 marks for each question. For each incorrect answer, there is -½ negative marking applicable.

• Category 3:

All the questions of Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry in the third category carry 2 marks for every question. Moreover, there is no minus marking. Moreover, more than one option can be correct for a question.

* In category 1 and 2, each response with more than one answer marked will be treated as an incorrect one and there will be negative marking applicable for the same.

Notes to Consider about Papers

• Students who have opted for both Paper I and Paper II are eligible for General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). These students will be eligible to apply for admission in all courses of Engineering and Pharmacy offered by the participating Institutes / Universities.
• Candidates appearing for only Paper 2 are eligible for Pharmacy Merit Rank. These students will be eligible for the admission into only Pharmacy courses in the participating Universities / Institutes of West Bengal (except in Jadavpur University).
• Aspirants sitting for only Paper 1 of the WBJEE exam 2025 will not be eligible for any rank.

The PwD Candidates / those who have a benchmark disability get some special facilities as per the exam pattern of WBJEE 2025. The benchmark for the disability for such candidates is set as per the Section 2(r) of the RPWD Act, 2016. According to this section, the PwD candidates need to have a specified disability of at least 40 percent.

Special facilities available for such students are listed below:

• Extra Time: PwD candidates with benchmark disabilities get an extra time of 20 minutes per hour according to the duration of the exam paper. For example, as the WBJEE exam time is 2 hours (for each paper), PwD candidates will get a total time of 2 hours and 40 minutes for every paper.
• Scribe Facility: The candidates with disabilities (as per the set benchmarks) will be facilitated with a scribe (reader / writer). To avail the scribe facility, PwD candidates must submit a written application along with the valid PwD certificate, a copy of the confirmation page, a certificate & a letter of undertaking to the Chairman, WBJEE (in the given format). The application needs to be submitted / sent to the Board office minimum 60 days prior to the exam date.

* The special arrangements for PwD candidates in the examination will be done only in the Board Office situated in Kolkata. Special facilities are not available at any other exam centre of WBJEE 2025.
