NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025: Check Nationality, Age Limit, Aggregate Score & Qualifications

The NIFT eligibility criteria 2025 states that the students need to satisfy the respective academic qualification and age criteria to get admission in UG and PG courses offered by the NIFT. The NIFT eligibility criteria is set up by the exam conducting body i.e., NTA.

Academic Qualifications

As stated by NTA, the student must possess the following qualifications to be eligible for NIFT Entrance Exam 2025:

• For UG level courses: Qualified 10+2 or equivalent level exam from any recognised Institute.
• For PG level courses: Completed UG Degree in relevant discipline from any recognised Institute / University.

Age Limit

According to the NIFT eligibility criteria 2025, the candidate must consider the below-listed age criteria in order to apply for NIFT 2025:

• For UG (B.Des and B.F.Tech) programs: The age of the students must be less than 24 years as of 1^st August of the academic year. There will be relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit for SC / ST / PwD candidates.
• For PG (M. Des, M.F.M and M.F. Tech): There is no age limit.

Nationality

• Indian Nationals / Foreign Nationals / NRI / OCI / PIO / SAARC are eligible to appear for the test.

Foreign Nationals / NRI / OCI / PIO / SAARC candidates must satisfy the academic qualifications required according to the different courses. Moreover, these candidates need to consider the following academic eligibility required to appear for NIFT 2025:

• If the students have obtained a Degree Certificate from a Board / University from any foreign country (except India), then they must obtain an equivalent certificate from AIU, New Delhi before admission.
• Foreign National candidates applying for NIFT must have working knowledge of the English Language.
• Before applying for admission under this category, the candidate must have appeared for SAT / GMAT / GRE exam before 30^th April 2025 and qualified with minimum 50% of scores.

* The scores must not have been declared before 1^st January, 2023 and should be received by the NIFT by 30^th April 2025.

Note: The age limit criteria for Foreign Nationals / NRI / OCI / PIO / SAARC is similar to the one specified in the above section.

The NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025 varies for different UG and PG courses which are offered through the exam score. All the aspirants who want to get admission through NIFT score need to satisfy the required educational qualifications for the concerned courses.

As per the NIFT 2025 eligibility criteria, some percentage of seats are reserved for SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / GEN-EWS / PwD / State Domicile / Foreign Nationals in each programme. Students can consider the following table to know category-wise reserved seats percentage:

* Students must ensure to have all the requisite valid and verifiable certificates on the basis of the category as a proof to avail the reservation benefits.

Note: Students need to choose their category at the time of submitting the application form and the selected category will be considered final. No requests will be permitted for any change of the category at any stage of the admission process.

For PwD Candidates

As per the section 2 (r) of the RPwD act, 2016, “Persons with Benchmark Disabilities” (PwD) means those with not less than 40% of specified disability. The specified disabilities as per the act are as follows:

• Physical Disability including Locomotor, Visual / Hearing Impairment
• Intellectual Disability
• Mental Behaviour Disability
• Disabilities due to Blood Disorders or Chronic Neurological Conditions
• Multiple Disabilities

• 5% of horizontal reservation for PwD candidates is available (with 40% or more disability) in all the categories (SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / OPEN category).
• To avail 5% of the reserved PwD seats, the candidates must have at least 40% of specified disability.
• The seats will be allotted to the PwD candidates at the time of seat allocation based on Common Merit Rank (CMR) in the respective category.
• The unoccupied seats will be merged with OPEN (PwD) to OPEN, OBC (NCL) (PwD) to OBC (NCL) / SC (PwD) to SC / ST (PwD) to ST at the time of spot round of seat allocation.

Following are some points which students need to consider regarding NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025:

• If the student has selected a reserved category i.e., SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / EWS / PwD and has not submitted a valid certificate as a proof of the category, then the candidate will be considered under the open category seats. In this case, the students cannot avail any benefit of age / income relaxation at the time of admission process. If they will avail any benefit, their candidature will be cancelled.
• If the candidate is found ineligible by NIFT / NTA, then their candidature will be rejected and strict legal actions will be taken against them.
• NTA does not verify any information during online registration so the candidature will be provisional to the accomplishment of eligibility criteria.

Students are required to fulfill the NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025 before applying for the NIFT Entrance Exam. The registration for NIFT 2025 will begin for all the courses from 22^nd November 2025. According to the NIFT Registration 2025 notification, students will have to register / apply for the exam before 6^th January 2025.

The NIFT registration 2025 will be conducted by NTA online through the official website “exams.nta.ac.in”. Candidates will have to pay the applicable application fee online through Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI.
