NEET MDS Eligibility Criteria 2025: Check Nationality, Age Limit, Aggregate Score & Qualifications

Aspirants must have passed a BDS degree and obtained provisional or permanent registration as per the NEET MDS Eligibility Criteria 2025. Along with this, students must have completed a 1-year compulsory rotatory internship on or before the specified date from an approved / recognised dental college. If candidates do not align with the NEET MDS exam eligibility criteria, they cannot appear in the entrance test.

Academic Qualifications

Students must have passed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) awarded by an Indian University, with respect to a recognised Dental College under Section 10 (2) of the Dentists Act, 1948 or any other equivalent examination recognised by Dental Council of India (DCI).

* At any time, if authorities find that the BDS degree is not recognised, the candidature / result of the student will be cancelled.

Internship

Candidates must have completed a 1-year compulsory rotatory Internship on or before the stipulated date prescribed by the NBEMS i.e., 31^st March 2025.

* Students who are undergoing the Internship need to submit a certificate specifying that they will be completing the Internship before the stipulated date.

Registration

Aspirants need to be registered with the State Dental Council (SDC) and obtain the provisional / permanent registration on or before the prescribed date which is 31^st March 2025.

Nationality

Indian Citizens, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) / Person of Indian Origin (PIO), and Non OCI Foreign Nationals are eligible for the NEET MDS exam 2025.

Age Limit

No lower and upper age limit is prescribed by the authorities to appear in the NEET MDS exam.

The NEET MDS exam eligibility criteria 2025 (including the academic qualifications, internship, registration, and age limit) for all India 50% quota seats are the same as above-mentioned in the overview.

Note: Students who have qualified a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the UT of Jammu & Kashmir are considered eligible to participate in the counselling for 50% All India Quota seats. Moreover, such aspirants are also eligible for participation in ‘Grant of Short Service Commission in Army Dental Corps’ and for MDS admissions in Armed Forces Institutes.

Foreign Nationals who are interested to apply for the NEET MDS exam 2025 are required to verify the below-given eligibility requirements:

• Must have a basic Dental qualification equivalent to BDS, recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
• Should have obtained the security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India as it will be submitted during the application process of the entrance test.
• On the payment of the specified examination fee, the DCI may grant temporary registration for the duration of NEET MDS program which will be limited to the Institution in which the students are admitted. However, such individuals must be registered with appropriate registering authority in their own Nation from where they have passed the Basic Dental qualification and is duly recognised by the corresponding Dental Council or concerned authority and Permission / No Objection Certificate from the dental council of that country to allow undertaking Post Graduation in India has also been obtained.

Students should go through the following points to understand the key points related to the rotatory internship which is required to become eligible for the NEET MDS exam:

• It is mandatory for the candidates to produce an Internship certificate during the counselling process to get admission in their desired University / Institute.

• No condonation will be accepted by the NBEMS (the exam conducting body) for the 12 months internship period except in following case:
  • Candidate’s batch admitted during the 2008-2009 academic session and have passed 4.5 years of BDS program along with a 6 Months compulsory rotating internship.
  • Aspirants got admission during the 2007-2008 academic session in the 5 years of BDS course without Internship at Rajah Muthiah Dental College, Annamalai University.

In accordance with the NEET MDS eligibility criteria 2025, students should refer to the below-given points to understand the reservation criteria / policy:

• The reservation of PG Dental seats will be as per the guidelines specified by the Government of India and respective State Government.
• Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students will be eligible to get admission on both NRI and Indian National seats according to their merit.
• Students who claim to be NRI / OCI / PIO are considered Unreserved and also they will not be provided with any reservation under SC / ST / OBC / EWS category.
• According to the Central list of OBC, only those students who belong to the OBC-NCL category will be eligible for the OBC reservation in the counseling to be conducted by MCC of DGHS including all India 50% quota seats counseling.
