The state of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1972 established the country’s first technological university under the State Legislature Act, with the name “Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University”. In the year 1987, Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT, Jalandhar), an autonomous institute, was established which was later declared as “Institute of National Importance” by the Government of India. The institute is AICTE and UGC approved.

Vision: The vision of the institute is to build the learners personality through interdisciplinary knowledge, human values, and professional ethics. NIT Calicut (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) was established in 1961 and was transformed as National Institute of Technology in 2002. It is an Autonomous Institute of National Importance and is approved by AICTE and UGC.

Motilal Nehru Institute of Technology (NIT) was developed in 1961 as the 17^th Regional Engineering Colleges of India in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. MNNIT is an Autonomous Educational Institute which is approved by AICTE, and accredited by NBA. This institute offers courses in the area of Humanities, Engineering, and Management.

National Institute of Technology was established in 1964 by the Government of India and was known as Regional Engineering College. It is located on Trichy-Tanjore national highway in Thuvakudi. It was established as a co-operative and joint venture of the Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of India. The history of the Cotton University Guwahati dates back to 1901, when the university was established as Cotton College. Later in 2011, the Cotton College State University was established following the act passed in the Assam Legislature, with the Cotton College as a constituent. The Cotton College State University and Cotton College were amalgamated in 2017. The university was declared a State University by UGC.

The year 2005 marked the establishment year of William Carey University as a State Private University with the approval of the UGC. It has accreditation from the PCI to offer Pharmaceutical courses. It also has a membership of AIU.
