SRMJEEE

SRM Joint Engineering Entrance examination is conducted by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM-IST), erstwhile known as SRM University, for admission to various undergraduate (UG/B.Tech) full-time degree programs in the engineering discipline. There are about 7,000 seats available for different bachelor’s degree courses in engineering. Every year SRMJEEE is held for admission to all the four (the first three are in Chennai, and the last one is in Ghaziabad) campuses of SRM-IST at Kattankulathur, Ramapuram I: Old, Ramapuram II/Vadapalani, and NCR-Delhi; and also for admission to various B.Tech programs that are under SRM University at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh.

Why should you opt for SRMJEEE

  • The difficulty level for this test is a notch lower when compared with other popular national and state level engineering entrances like BITSAT, JEE-Main, WBJEE, VITEEE and SRMEEE.
  • The total number of examinees appearing for SRMJEEE is much less than that of JEE-Main, and thus, the odds of success in this examination is statistically much higher than that of JEE-Main
  • One can secure a rank between 10,000 to 15,000 with an average preparation
  • Anyone hell-bent on getting a seat for CSE can still manage to do so, even with a rank beyond 30,000, though not for the main campus
  • Difficulty level for physics, chemistry, and mathematics are easy/moderate, easy, easy/moderate
  • A few merit scholarships available for eligible students, which reduces the TCE (total cost of attendance) to a great extent, roughly estimated over two million rupees for a four years/eight semesters UG-CSE course

How is SRMJEEE different from VITEEE and MUOET

SRMJEEE is a piece of cake when compared with VITEEE and MUOET, as it is based on the 12th standard for CBSE and asks direct questions based on rote-learned formulae. The other two, VITEEE and MUOET put a candidate’s raw IQ and smartness to test respectively. It is no surprise that VITEEE is even harder than JEE-Main as this test asks tricky and application-oriented questions. No doubt it is rightly hailed as the elite among of all engineering entrances! Now; coming to MUOET, it is a comparatively easier examination than VITEEE and JEE-Main, but a tad harder than SRMJEEE and grills an examinee on time management by asking to solve 200 problems in a pretty short interval.

Eligibility for SRMJEEE: 2018

  • A candidate must be at least 16 years old at the time of taking the test
  • A test-taker should either be appearing for or should have passed 10+2 (limited to 2 attempts inclusive of improvement) from any recognized Indian board or equivalent with physics, chemistry, and mathematics (biology for admission to BTech. in Bio-Technology/Genetic Engineering/Bio-Medical Engg.) with at least second class (50+% in aggregate marks)
  • Resident Indians, NRIs, PIO/OCI card holders are eligible to sit for this test
  • 12th passed candidates from NIOS (erstwhile known as NOS) are also eligible to appear for this examination as long as they have not done their 10th from the same board
  • Top rankers in central or state boards of education, first 1,000 rank holders from JEE-Main, top rankers from all the districts of Tamil Nadu, and sports medal awardees at the international or national level will be considered for an exam-waiver

The prescribed pattern of SRMJEEE

  • The duration of this examination will be of two and a half hours
  • The total number of questions that will be asked in MCQ format is 35+35+35/35+35+50 (PCM/PCB)
  • Negative marking scheme will be present
  • The test can be taken thrice

Most important instructions for taking the SRMJEEE

  • Applicants are required to arrive at the test centre at least half an hour before the test
  • Keeping any personal item (mobile, pager, palmtop, Bluetooth gadget, or any other electronic device, slide rule, calculator, wireless gadget, spy microphone, etc.) at the time of taking the examination is strictly prohibited
  • Students will be barred from entering the examination venue if they fail to produce their admit cards and Aadhaar cards (photocopy not allowed) at the registration kiosk
  • The examinees will then be asked to proceed with biometric registration of their identities, the admit cards will be scanned, the appearing candidates will be photographed, and they will be guided to the respective computers
  • It will be a proctored test and the invigilator on duty has the authority to expel/RA (report against) any test-taker for talking to other candidates, creating any sort of nuisance or disturbance, trying to tamper of hack the software or hardware of own computer or of others, giving proxy for someone else, carrying any prohibitive articles mentioned before inside the examination hall, etc.
