Welingkar Institute History

SPM Trust from Pune focuses on making L.N. Welingkar Institute of management a Global Educational body. S.P. Mandali Trust is one of the first trusts in India. It further focuses on disseminating the cause of education throughout the length and breadth of the country. Moreover, the SPM Trust has successfully established 43 academic institutes throughout the country. All of these institutes are successfully contributing to the educational sector. Some of the noted educational establishments founded and managed by the trust include the ‘Poddar College of Commerce, Mumbai’, ‘S.P. College, Pune’ and the ‘Ruia College, Mumbai’. The institute set up its first campus in Mumbai which is the establishment’s flagship campus.

Advocate Sohanlal Jain is the chairman of the Welingkar Institute of Management Development. Shri Shrikrishna Chitale is the Vice-Chairman. The first batch of management studies program, recognized by the University of Mumbai, started attending classes from 1984. The Institute shifted to its present Matunga campus in Mumbai in 2002. The Bangalore Campus set up in 2004 imparts PGDM (e-business) program.

L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development Best Courses

PGDM or Postgraduate Diploma in Management – The PGDM course is a 2-year full-time program. Further, the curriculum of the program is flexible enough. It allows students to learn the management education basics as well as pick up the new developments. Additionally, the key subjects include strategic management, business ethics, corporate governance, international business, operating system, and advanced tax management.

It has a trimester pattern for imparting instructions on the various subjects. It further furnishes sufficient time and leeway to students for completing the program effectively. In order to be eligible for this program, the applicant has to attain at least 50% during graduation. Applicants can be from any stream of study. Additionally, the student has to clear any one of the several nationwide management entrance tests including CAT, XAT, ATMA, CMAT, MH-CET, and GMAT. The institute further conducts a personal interview and group discussions. Moreover, authorities also check the previous professional experience of the candidates.

PGDM (Business Design) – The PGDM (business design) is a 2-year, full-time program whose syllabus has been created for equipping students with the wisdom essential for becoming future innovative managers and leaders. The course imparts the learners with knowledge and knowhow indispensable for creating systems, products, services, and communication techniques that fulfills human needs and boosts quality of life. The eligibility conditions for this course are the same as the above program.
PGDM (E-Biz) – The postgraduate diploma in e-business management is a 2-year full-time course. After completing the e-biz program, students develop the ability to comprehend emerging and new-fangled business ideas as well as apply the concepts in the commercial environment that is becoming more and more dynamic with every passing day. The qualifying criterions for the PGDM (e-biz) program are identical with all the other PGDM courses.
PGDM (Retail Management) – The institute also provides a two-year course in retail management. It focuses on developing skills of the students in the retail sector. The syllabus is a judicious mix of retail management as well as general management subjects. Retail store operations, retail brand management, buying & merchandising, retail selling & negotiation skills, mall management, franchise management, and e-commerce are a few specialized subjects taught under this course.
Post Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship – The postgraduate program in entrepreneurship is an 11-month course that has been specially prepared for individuals looking to become involved in family businesses having a turnover of at least 20 crores. The entire course is completed in two semesters spread over 11 months. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree, and actively involved in a family-run business or are entrepreneurs in their own right are eligible to apply for this program.
