Eastern India’s First Private Cloud Computing Lab in Kolkata – IEM Invests Rs. 8.20 Crores for this Futuristic Initiative

Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata, has taken a step towards the development of our nation by taking an initiative to set up Eastern India’s First Private Cloud Computing Lab. The institution has invested an amount of Rs. 8.20 Crores to set up this project in Kolkata.
“Today governments and corporations are very concerned about where their confidential data is staying. There are instances where the private data of companies has been accessed from reputed public cloud companies. So, there is a growing demand for private cloud deployment,” Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director, IEM.
With a perspective to bring revolution in education related to technology, and to provide a safe space for confidential data of various organisations, IEM Kolkata, has established this Private Cloud Computing Lab, which is situated in Godrej Genesis at Sector V in Salt Lake.
Initiative for India’s Future & Safety
At present, Data Privacy is an issue of concern, and establishment of this innovative lab which not only contributes in research projects, but also helps in data management, brings a wave of relief among people. This Private Cloud Computing Lab is going to be beneficial for more than 6000 students who have shown their interest in Technology, Cloud Computing and Data Privacy.
This establishment is going to bring progress in both the private and public sector, as from now, the government and the companies, both will be sure about the safety of their confidential information.
Innovation & Collaboration: Hand in Hand
IEM is planning towards the progress of Technology in India, for which it has actively collaborated with University of Melbourne, in order to give a shape to this Cloud Computing Deployment. The institute is planning to not just stop here but move forward by establishing innovative & advanced hubs, in major cities of India, in collaboration with renowned institutions including, IIT Kharagpur.
This Initiative of IEM seems promising, as it has assured to make more investments in similar future projects, for the advancement of our country.
“We have invested almost Rs. 9 crores here only with the infrastructure and we have already promised Rs. 600 crores investment in BGBS (Bengal Global Business Summit) to the state government that will be undertaken in phases,” Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director, IEM.
