Alakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University was incorporated in 2012 through the APG Shimla University and Establishment Act (2012).

AP Goyal Shimla University is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in India, and it is also a constituent of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The ten-semester Bachelor of Architecture programme offered by the School of Architecture is validated by the Council of Architecture (COA). The degree courses offered by the School of Legal Studies and Research are duly approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

History – About APG

The university began its humble journey in 2012. The non-profit AP Goyal Charitable trust is run by the successful entrepreneur Rajesh Goyal and plays a vital role guiding this world-class abode of learning achieve the objective of providing quality education to masses. Set in the picturesque Himalayas, the university draws attention from national as well as international students. More than four hundred students from nineteen countries have chosen this world-class learning institution to date. The university has successfully established formal student-exchange programmes with several international universities; namely, China Agricultural University, IOBQ (Delhi), University of Lodz, University of Maribor, Mogilev State A. Kuleshov university, Szent Istvan University (Szie), Catholic University San Antonio of Murcia (UCAM), Whitireia Institute of Technology, and Xinyu University.

Campus and Life at APG

AP Goyal University provides all the modern amenities to its students including round-the-clock medical and transport facilities, solar water geysers, cable television, indoor and outdoor games (table tennis, chess, carom, badminton and volleyball), weekly and monthly leisure trips for hostel residents, gym, etc. There are ten cafeterias and several mini refreshment outlets at the campus. Canara Bank and Bank of Baroda have opened their branches and ATMs at this campus. The university has formal ties with the HP Football Association and the Indira Gandhi Sports Centre. Horse riding, river rafting, skiing, zip line, rappelling, Burma bridge, and jummaring are offered to interested students with the help of various adventure sports associations. In addition to these facilities; boxing, volleyball, mountain and nature treks, music and meditation room, yoga hall with natural therapies, billiards, and snooker are provided to the students.

• BCA/B.Tech: Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 examination from a recognized Indian board of education or equivalent and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Governments norms.
• B.Tech: Applicants should have obtained a B.Tech degree from a recognized Indian university or equivalent and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics): Applicants should have obtained a B.Sc. degree from a recognized Indian university or equivalent and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• B.Arch.: Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 examination from a recognized Indian board of education or equivalent, must possess qualifying NATA scores, and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• B.Sc. (Fashion Designing): Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 examination from a recognized Indian board of education or equivalent and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• BA (Journalism and Mass Communication): Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 examination from a recognized Indian board or equivalent and should also fulfill the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• MA (Journalism and Mass Communication): Applicants should possess a first or second class (50% for general category students and 45% for SC/ST) bachelor degree or equivalent in any discipline and should also fulfill the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• Integrated LL.B: Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 examination from a recognized Indian board of education or equivalent and should also fulfill the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• LL.B: Applicants should hold a bachelors degree from any recognized Indian university or equivalent.
• LL.M: Applicants should hold an LLB degree from any recognized Indian university or equivalent.
• BHM: Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 examination from a recognized Indian board of education and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• MHM: Sc. from any recognized Indian university or equivalent
• BBA: Applicants should have cleared their 10+2 examination with a minimum of 45% (5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate from any recognized Indian board of education or equivalent with a paper in English and should also comply with the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms.
• B.Com: Same as BBA.
• MBA: Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized Indian university or equivalent with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate and should also adhere to the Himachal Pradesh State Government norms. They should also hold qualifying scores in CAT/MAT/XAT/ATMA/HPUMAT/GMAT/HPCET.
