CMJ University came into existence in 2009 to provide the best quality education and facilities to students for a better future. This university is UGC and AICTE-approved and is recognised by the Government of Meghalaya.

Placement plays an important role in developing the professional career of the students and for this, the university has established a Career Advisory department. This department acts as an intermediate between the recruiting companies and the students and provides a platform to the students for interacting with the corporate industry personnel. Additionally, this department supports and guides the students in choosing the right career path. The Career Advisory department also helps the students in developing basic and major professional skills like building resumes, application forms, writing cover letters and participate in mock interview attend group discussions and give aptitude tests. Also, to make the students professionally ready, the university provides multiple project works & assignments and organises seminars, guest lectures, conferences, and other career-related activities.
The university has also established an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC). This cell helps the students explore the world of business and explore new, exciting, and successful opportunities in the business sectors. This EDC is established to motivate the students to come up with their business ideas and share their thoughts related to business. This cell assists the students to go with their own venture and conducts regular teaching and learning classes like Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development Programs.
The campus of the university is located in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The campus of the university is built on an area of 40 acres and is situated in Jorabat on the Guwahati-Shillong highway.
