IIU has been established as a not-for-profit institute and it runs three schools under its name:
IIU provides education to both national and international students and the procedure of admissions for both are also the same. Students can enroll their names via both online and offline admissions processes.

IIU offers its students scholarships based on various factors like Entry Level Merit Scholarship for first-year students applying for PG or UG courses and Roll-on Semester Merit Scholarships (applies after 3rd semester). Students are given fee concessions of 30% to 90% for scoring marks between 50% to 100%. Additionally, for getting a CGPA between 5 to 10, a 30% to 90% fee concession is given to students.

Placement plays a vital role in the academic life of students and therefore, the institute has established a Career Advancement Cell. This cell is responsible for providing the students with placement opportunities in multiple national and international companies. The placement department of the institute follows a general employment procedure in which the students need to go through various steps like pre-placement presentation, written examination, group discussions, and interview (formal/technical).
Apart from this, the cell also provides internship programs to the students to make them professionally equipped and give them a hands on experience. Internship helps the students in developing on-field knowledge and building career interest.
Located at VPO Bathu, Tehsil Haroli, the campus of the institute is roughly 5 km away from the town of Tahliwal in the district of Una. The candidates can reach the campus via train as well as road. The first phase of the institute is operational and built on an area of approximately 160000 sq feet, spread within seven blocks. The institute offers its students well-constructed smart classrooms, smart laboratories, a fully digitalized computer lab, and Wi-Fi enabled campus.
