BVBIMS registers students exclusively for two management programs - BBA and MBA. Both management courses are fulltime programs for which students attend classes at the institute campus from Tuesday through Saturday. Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology, West Bengal has recognized the BBA (Hons.) program of the institution.
On the other hand, AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has approved the B-school’s MBA course.
BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) : The duration of the BBA program is 3 years where each year comprises of two semesters. The faculty members take classes from Tuesday till Saturday between 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Students not only gain knowledge about theoretical aspects of business administration and management but also get ample opportunities for applying their knowhow in the professional area.
The institute organizes interfaces between the students and industry leaders, thereby enabling the former to keep track of current state of affairs in the different commercial segments. The convenient class timings enable students to attend classes for other professional courses. Managers and management-level executives from frontline firms and companies visit the institute for addressing the students.
A student willing to pursue the BBA program of this institute has to clear the 10+2 exam (ISC/HS/AISSCE) in the arts/science/commerce stream. The candidate also has to secure at least 50% marks in aggregate in order to be considered for admission.
MBA (Master of Business Administration) : The duration of the MBA course of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science is of two years, each year comprising two semesters. The curriculum of this postgraduate program in management has been devised in such a way so as to allow students to comprehend the modus operandi of management in the competitive world of commerce. The MBA program prepares the students to take up an entry-level management job position in a conglomerate and work their way up to eventually become outstandingly successful managers.
Once the students are through with the postgraduate management course, they can coordinate with the placement cell for attending campus interviews. Alternatively, they can establish contact with several national and international organizations via their social media profiles and apply to different positions for which the companies are seeking suitable candidates. The student has to complete a set of core subjects in four semesters including business economics, organizational behavior, management information system, management accountancy, and operation research.
At the same time, students who wish to earn a MBA certification with dual specialization, have to choose at least 3 subjects for major specialization and 1 subject for minor specialization. The students take up and complete the dual specialization papers in the 3rd and 4th semesters. The areas from which the candidate can choose the papers for dual specialization include marketing, finance, human resource management, and information system management.
The basic qualifying criterion for this management course is a bachelor’s degree in any stream (arts, science or commerce). Those in the final year of their graduation can also apply provided the examination results are declared at the time of registration for admission. Nevertheless, marks obtained in a national level management entrance examination (CAT/MAT/JEMAT/CMAT) and performance in GD-PI conducted by BVBIMS will determine whether a candidate finally secure a seat.
