Established in the year 2002, Shriram Institute of Marine Studies was started with an aim of imparting Maritime education and enabling students to become respectable figures in the Maritime industry. Initially, the institute offered courses under IGNOU. Later in 2008, it got affiliated with Indian Maritime University, Chennai, India’s very first Maritime University. Also, the institute is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India.
Multiple courses are offered by the institute in the fields of Maritime such as Pre Sea courses, Basic Safety courses, Special courses, Advanced STCW courses, Simulator courses and Refresher courses.
The institute offers Diploma and certificate programs for both the intermediate and UG students. Before applying for the college, it is necessary for the students to go through the minimum eligibility requirements as tabulated below:

*For admission into the diploma program in DNS, candidates are required to sit for an online All India Common Entrance Test.
*Students have to present a medical fitness certificate approved by a DGS doctor to be eligible for the courses offered by the institute.
*There are a few medical regulations that students must follow: both eyes 6/6 with no aid and no color blindness, no deformity in body, and fit for sea service.
Admission Process
It is compulsory for the candidates to take an entrance test for admission into the diploma program offered by the college. Students have to register for this course through the official website of the college. If found eligible, the institution will organise a capsule training on online examination for all registered students. This helps them to prepare for the entrance test. The final merit list will be based on the performance in the entrance exam.
For the Pre Sea GP Rating course, students have to visit the institute campus along with necessary documents. If they are found fit for admission, they must appear for an All India Exit Examination. After clearing the test, students are required to visit the campus for counselling and admission fee payment. Seat booking will be issued only subject to the submission of course fees.

Shriram Institute of Marine Studies is situated in the metro city of Delhi, Dwarka. The infrastructure spreads across 10 acres of land. The campus is designed to cater to all the modern needs of students and to provide them an environment of learning and discipline. It comprises hostels, messes, classrooms equipped with LCD projectors, sports ground for outdoor games, mock chambers to train practical education, and a library full of journals, and books.
